Have just spent ages reading the alternative thread - only just realized it existed. What a laugh - Bricky does seem to have gone a bit overboard.
Hope everyone is OK, I am still finding it a struggle, getting the hunger/crampy type craving pains even after all this time. Just hope they disappear soon. Trouble is they make me want to eat and eat and eat, I always seem to feel hungry nowadays, whereas I could just have a cig instead. Not at all impressed wth this weight gain, I always used to say that being fat was an unhealthy as smoking and could be just as much of a health risk.:EasterBun
Sorry I am whining - must be more positive. I just wish that I could feel fantastically healthy and fit to at least make me think that it is all worth it.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
Hi melbury. I know exactly what you mean. Before I stopped smoking I used to have a cig instead of a snack, now i tend top snack alot more than I used to. I did go up a jeans size but now I've either dropped a size again (despite my eating) or they have somehow stretched!!! I do have the odd pang of craving a smoke but most days it's not a problem. That's where it can be a problem though. I've been here before. Last year I stopped for 6 months... then I started again. Had really strong cravings to smoke and I gave in and smoked again for about 3 months!!! So I'm trying not to get complacent this time around. I want this time to be for good!!!
I think you've done really well so far-you should be proud of yourself.
I'm afraid brickingit seems to have lost the plot somewhat-i feel quite sorry for him really, coz we all gave him support on here and for whatever reason he decided he would be better going his own way. He just seems to pick bones with almost everyone now and that's sad really...GE 36 *MFD may 2043

hey i've not read much of this existing post but wanted to say that I am giving up myself - so will my partner be, but she wont be too happy.
I can quit cold turkey and my moods stay relatively the same. My partner on the other hand is a nightmare to live with. previously we both quit for over 3 months before lapsing. after a day, she was onto the patches, i was not living with that.
but this time around, we cannot afford patches - or smoking.
until I found out my local Poundland has NRT patches in. i dont care if they are past best before, dont care if they are elastoplast, dont care if they make diddle squat change in reality. if they work mentally on my partner, im happy.
walking into town tomorrow to buy some
here we go again though, third time around. Though just to celebrate, tesco dvd rental sent me "Thank You for Smoking" to watch today, hahaha.0 -
Hi. Welcome to your and your OH. When I gave up I went cold turkey-I was a mardy so and so for a while and sometimes i still am!!! But luckily my OH is very tolerant and easy going. We are a friendly lot on here and will give you as much support as we can. No doubt some of the others and JoeHel; will be along at some point-she's brillliant with all the facts re stopping etc etc.
Well done with making the decision though.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

hi all just me again , whats been happening?
me..i am doing well still off the fags, had to drop down to 1 tablet a day and feeling fine now, bit ropey before.
Hello to all the newbies, hope it all goes well for you.
Who's the nutter on the other thread0 -
Hi. I gave up for about 8 months last year and have tried and failed a few times since. Tomorrow, when I wake up (with my not-so-lovely smoker's cough.....mmm, nice), I vow to never take another puff! This time, I AM going to make it, I SHALL quit for good. Bring on the mood swings, anger, tears and whatnot, am ready for it all...again
I gave up alcohol 2 months ago so I know I have some willpower lol
GL to those in the early stages of quitting and a massive hurrah to those further
along, you rock!! :beer:0 -
