Well it's a good job I'm not a heavy smoker then isn't it? Although I have been smoking on and off for around 20 years (started age 11, bad girl!!)Hi Kate- you're doing really well- keep it up !! I smoked for 20 years but at the end was down to about 5-10 per day (apart from when out drinking, then it was a lot more) but some days it was 1 or 2 !! i even went on holiday last sumer to visit OH's family in the states for 3 weeks and didn't smoke once !! The point I'm making is no matter how little you smoke- you still do- and it takes a lot of getting used to.
Kiss that packet but don't open it- believe me its not worth it and it doesn't live up to expectations !!! x:T :T :T
Thank you, I was talking to my friend yesterday and started going on about how I could maybe just smoke at weekends but then I thought what's the point of that? As I keep saying I don't know how long I'll keep this quitting lark up for and even though I really do want a cigarette I just keep putting it off as I know it'll taste horrid and I'm also not in the mood to beat myself up!Kate

Morning
I've just caught up with this and Bricking It's thread. Between the two threads I've realised several things. (You've probably heard all this from me before but I can't stop stopping !)
1. If I continue to smoke I'm never going to feel any better about myself, mentally or physically.
2. Being cross with myself for smoking is just bringing me down. Forever looking for my next fix is wishing my life away.
3. The feeling of insecurity and fear is the only thing that is holding me back, the worst thing that can happen is a slight light headedness (ie feeling like Pheobe from friends which isn't a bad place to be!)

Me again, just been reading some of the old stop smoking thread in the Money Savers Arms where I can clearly be found off the smokes 2 years ago, full of enthusiasm and devoted to a smoke free life. Right up to the point I started again in August 2006 .....
Bit of an eye opener for me, and certainly an inspiration to myself. The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones. - Chinese Proverb

Hi all. I hope you are all well and full of positivity. I am expecting to have empty fag packets thrown at me shortly coz I've just been over to the alternative thread... let's just say I know they aren't going to like what I said. I care not at least I'm not wallowing in my own self pity-I bet that went down well on there too!!!.
anyway, back to important things.Still not smoking, had last cigarette 1st december 2007. Still feel great-apart from the chest infection I have, which, when I got them when I smoked nearly always ended up as bronchitids/pleurisy, I even managed pneumonia a couple of times. So all in all I'm quite healthy for me. Well done to all who are quitting or who have stopped already. I am really proud of you all and you should all be really proud of yourselves-well done and keep it up. This thread has been a lifeline for me. We're all very supportive of one another and if anyone needs to vent we are here and if you want a hug (((hug))) there you are!!! Speak soon peopleGE 36 *MFD may 2043

I'm feeling terrible! Had a really bad nights sleep inbetween waking up with cravings. I've varied my morning routine and now my poor dog has a walk within 10 minutes of me getting out of bed  I'm edgy all the time and have just bought a load of carrots and am currently munching them - my son is ignoring me as I'm really snappy but he is still encouraging me at the same time - it doesn't help that my ex-husband still smokes! My poor dog had 4 walks yesterday and I also went for a 4 mile run - didn't do much to stop the cravings when I was out last night even though we were in a restaurant! Hope this improvesLife is about laughing & living, in good times & bad, getting through whatever comes our way & looking back with a smile0

Welcome classyellie. Lurkio's right, it will get easier. It may take a while, but you will find it easier.
Where is everybody today? it seems a bit quiet round here. Maybe you're all working and I'm just looking after my little girl (well, not so littlke actually) she went ice skating day before yesterday and was trampolining same day... She now has a sports injury to her shoulder and back!!! great, so she's in bed at the moment!!!GE 36 *MFD may 2043
