The Giving Up Smoking Thread!!

  • Hey Everyone, how are we all in smoke-free corner?

I've been hiding for a while because I was too ashamed to admit that I haven't quit smoking yet.:o
Lurkio - I haven't even picked the book up yet that you so kindly sent to me. Why? I don't know. Fear?
I don't know what my problem is. I want to quit, I know all of the negatives of smoking, and I read through this thread and see how happy you all are to be finally free, but something inside me won't let it happen. What have I got to be afraid of? Why can't I pick up that book?

    Please help :(

Lets face it you're a weak willed shambles, poor excuse of a human being who can't control his/her cravings. I've actually started smoking more since I tried stopping smoking on here. I've come to terms with it. I've looked ten Superkings in the face and said, 'well go on then'. Not exactly motivational stuff I know, but there you go.

I'm a shambles, but at least i'm a drugged lethargic shambles.

I know you want to quit, otherwise you wouldn't be looking into the thread. Let us support you. :)

  • Hi All,

I have been thinking about quitting for a while now, i knoy smoke about 5 a day which almost makes me think its not worth it, i mean, if i smoked 20 a day i would be a "proper" smoker.

Ive had 2 days of sick and wanted a cig once and that was only when i realised i hadnt had one yet, lol

I just dont know if im actually ready to quit, i still enjoy smoking, i like having a cigarette break and i enjoy the action.

I think im just talking rubbish now - think ill get to the end of this pack and see if i can resist buying another.

Well done to all that are stronger than me

    Hi all
I'm really pleased so many of you are making progress. I'm still struggling. Main reason for posting is I've deleted my exhaler blog diary of not smoking as it's just sitting there nagging at me to stop and I haven't !

I need a different approach, can quote Allen Carr until the cows come home I know it's all true and makes sense but I just keep falling off the bandwagon.

I know how much better I'll feel, positive and less stressed when I stop. I've been there and done it, the worst thing I ever did was start again.
I actually quit everyday and give in everyday .

Hi Lurks- :hello: well I have just ordered this book ;) after you posting the link a few times. As you know I have given up and all was going well until last week.... but I can't stop thinking about smoking now !! Haven't given in but nearly did again last night whilst having a glass or 2 of wine.. that's when it gets me the most- the rest of the time it doesn't really get to me that much....

Decided that I need something that will give me the final push to never want to smoke again- am really hoping that it works- forever !!!

morning everyone else- have a great day !! :D

  • morning everyone! Kate hope you have not succembed!
I'm beginning to think there is a conspiracy against me, Twice in the last month I've had throat infections (the first one the catalyst to me stopping) and after my posy last night about starting to feel the benefits I wake up this morning full of cold and aching throbbing throat. Waere the cigs keeping the germs at bay?!

    :o:o:o:o:o

Thing is, Bas, I can't imagine it NOT working for anyone, which is why I plug it so much (that and all the commission I'm getting ;):D )

Well done! Let us know how you get on

skintbutsmiling01 - I think as your body is adjusting, it's leaving you more susceptible to infections etc. Look on it as a good sign, that your bod is returning to normality :)

  • Hi everyone,
Just wanted to say to everyone just starting out, it does get easier, I stopped last tuesday and didn't even realise yesterday that I had reached a landmark as my OH put it! I've just kept myself busy, I made a list of all the jobs I usually put off and sit and have a cigarette and a coffee instead and have been working through that, its kept my mind off cigarettes and I do still have an odd craving but it doesn't last as long and as more time goes by, I realise how silly I would be to start again

Good Luck everyone and keep at it!!
