  • Hi all
So many old/new quitters go us!!!
I've now been a non smoker for 7 MONTHS - yay!!
Still can't believe it - still occasionally feeling the longing (my nicotine monster lies sleeping!) so know I will never have another cigarette not even one because I don't want to wake my monster and just one will!! Those who know me of old - started posting on 25th June - will know my motto has always been "not complacent but confident" and so it remains!!
Good luck to one and all - anyone out there even thinking about it - go for it you'll be quids in!!!
Thanks again to out founder Jo my inspiration and rock!! TNG where are you the thread is simply not the same without you and your words of wisdom. Please let there not be another patio incident -Mrs TNG are you there??
Take care all, happy smoke free days!
    love and hugs

I can completely empathize with you Bas, I am just the same, especially when I have a drink. I am still getting this feeling in my stomach which is almost like hunger pangs, but not quite the same. Trouble is that instead of smoking I eat to try and get rid of it, I will be putting on tons of weight:eek:

If anything it is getting more difficult, I suppose in the early stages of quitting you get a buzz from actually achieving stopping, but then perhaps the novelty starts to wear off a bit!! A bit like the weight watchers winners, once they have achieved their goal they get despondent and put all of the weight back on.

You won't give in though and neither will I because I sure as hell haven't gone through the last four weeks for nothing and a little white stick will not defeat me.

Hi Melbury. It does get a bit more difficult after a month or so because the reasons that you quit in the first place have often now mostly disappeared. You can breathe easier and money isn't quite so tight any more. Your motivations for quitting in the first place have all but gone. So remember what made you want to quit in the first place - remember how ill you felt or how much money you were setting fire to every month. Do you really want to go back there? Honestly, the minute you accept that you've done an amazing thing, accept your decision and just get on with your life, you will be a lot happier about it. :D

Morning all and welcome to a new week !! Just signed the petition for TNG. maybe he's about !!??!;)

Hi to nboldock, laineyc and kirstymccr- nice to meet you.
IDA- 7 months- wow that's fantastic !! you are my inspiration (along with TNG....and all of the rest)
It'll be the new people with the enthusiam that'll keep me going now... JoeHel and Melbury you are right, I DO have more cash and the buzz of giving up is wearing off.
However, walked (fast) 8 miles yesterday and wasn't out of breath once, I've got no horrible taste in my mouth, and I can go a day without thinking of them (sort of). It's just weekends that are harder I think.

Well. On Day 28 with NO FAGS WHATSOEVER- not even a drag !! Cannot believe it !
Well done to all of the other NYE giver uppers too.
Bit of a test this week as my blokey is away for 3 days and I'm in the house on my own... oh dear. Will keep busy..

have a great day everyone... :D:D:D

Hello fellow non-smokers (and those trying)

I'm Lurkio and I've been, well, lurking for a little while now and figured I'd jump on.

I stopped 18 months ago using Neil Casey's "The Nicotine Trick". It was an absolute revelation. I found it really easy and would (and do) recommend the book to anyone thinking of quitting.

I'll probably hang around for a while and offer what words of wisdom and encouragement I can.

From reading through, you are all doing really, really well. :T :T :T

    Never stop stopping!

Do you know what- I've never heard of that book but it's probably fairly similar to Allan Carr?? Will look it up.

    Hi Basilcat :hello:

It is similar, yes. The crucial difference for me, having read both, is that Neil Casey gives you some techniques at the end for re-training your brain to not want ciggies. Once that clicks (could happen 1st time or could take some days) it makes stopping SO much easier and you don't have cravings again and there's NO better feeling in the world (well, maybe one ;):D)) than to know you are free of nicotine.
