Ok I am preparing to stop smoking on thursday. I have smoked for about 4 years and dont wnt to do it anymore. I have stopped about four times but allways started again. Stupid I know but I want to make this the last time I have to quit ever. My best friend just had a baby and I hate the thought of going near her smelling of smoke! The reason I chose thursday and not before is I have two degree exams this week, one tomorrow and one on wed. So Thur will be my quit day. I am planning to go cold turkey and I am going to gut my house and do a massive deep clean to get ready for christmas as I dont work. Sorry for rambling and hope everyone is doing well with their no smoking, x

Oh - hi jo. Thanks for popping in  :D

    :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Where've I been? Not a very nice place at all. One that I wouldn't like to return to. Thankfully, things seem to be returning to some kind of normality so yeah, I'm ok

Mrs T successfully flew past 6 weeks of not smoking :T . Chocolate gnomes are still around along with their new friend, the bye-bye monster :rotfl:

Hi Bellie :hello: and welcome to the thread (it's usually a bit more lively than this - dunno where everyone's gone....)

If you want motivation and support, you've come to the right place. Check out some of the links in post #1 and, when you have time, browse through for helpful advice and experiences. You are not alone in this and with the help of people on here, you have a better chance of succeeding (IMO :D )

    Hellooooo everyone!

I have not vanished, I promise. I have had absolutely HORRENDOUS toothache for a week (dentist thought she'd fixed it last week but hadn't, and I couldn't get back there 'til today). Anyway, long story short, she removed the nerve today so I should now be free of the stabbing pains, although I apparently might be a bit "bruised" for a while from the instruments they used to remove the nerve... I kept my eyes shut so I didn't see any of it!!!!!

And just so you know ... the dentist is absolutely my biggest phobia ever and I was TERRIFIED but I never even considered needing a ciggie. In my 6th week of nicotine free life and still loving it!! In fact, I'm starting to forget I ever did it, if that makes sense? I've stopped thinking about it at all really. I honestly thought I would wake up every day thinking about smoking and I would miss it for the rest of my life. I wish I'd had the courage to try this years ago because I honestly don't miss it one little bit!! :j

notanothergreyhair - it's great motivation to hear that there are people out there who gave up yonks ago and are still going strong so please don't think you are boasting!

    TNG - have missed you!

Would be great to hear how Tobruk, mumzy and Frugaljo are doing....
