Right now I have to ask what is the dneatt club?

Well done!! Dunno how long that's been there but you're the first to ask!

It's a reminder to myself when I'm in the Arms - "Do Not Even Acknowledge The Trolls". I tend to get dragged in and try to take the p., but I have to remember the saying "Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty but the pig likes it!"
:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood
  • Nice one - I tend to get dragged in too - can I join?
    I stopped smoking 25th June 2007
    STILL Never complacent but confident

    Morning all

Cath, congrats, maybe you should start a 'Getting Married the DFW way' and get some tips of the other DFW'ers? I had a very cheap wedding, my dress was off the back of a lorry...ahem..and we were lucky enough to have a florist and a chef amongst our mates so got the flowers and buffet at the evening do as a wedding present. Plus some friends of my parents had a caravan in Camber Sands so that's where we spent our honeymoon, they gave us a week there as a present! Good luck finding ways to cut back, I think it'd be an interesting thread though so start one up if you haven't already.

IDA, nice to see you back on the thread, how you doing?

    TNG, keep kicking !!!!

BE, good luck getting your new place, look forward to seeing you back in the NY, although you can still post in the meantime, after all it's only another 3 weeks away!!

How's everyone else this bright and bluddy freezing morning?

I'm off work today, gotta take DD2 to the orthodonists up in London, least it's not raining (crosses fingers :D)

Speak to you all later, have a wonderful smoke-free day :D

    xx

Can I sneak back into the fold please? :o

Had an up and down month of stopping smoking and starting again. Seeing the Nurse at the Docs fortnightly and tonight we've decided to quit the patches and go for Champix in the New Year.

I've changed a few habits like not buying packs of 100  and buying single packs instead, less tea (as tea = fag pls!) and changed to hot choc. Struggling with the mental side big time (voice says go on, have one, you want one) and becoming an emotional wreck over it! :rotfl: I've also changed brands (to cheaper disgusting tasting ones so am smoking less).

So time to introduce some new measures until Champix appt comes through...

    1. Write down each cig I have to keep focussed on keeping it low to Champix time
    2. Move the laptop to somewhere I don't smoke - bathroom anyone?! :rotfl:
    3. Keep logging on here. I feel so alone with the disappointment of lack of willpower and am hoping I can really make this happen this time.

Thanks for letting me rant and well done to all those quitters. Failure is something that's haunting me right now.
    Back on the DFW Wagon:

    CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
    CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
    Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/18

Hi everyone. Ali-ok, just read your blog... You are not a failure, you are adjusting. I've got a temper like godzilla since I decided not to have cigarettes!!!!! Not a pretty sight I can tell you. I stopped smoking in February-and stayed stopped for 6 months-cold turkey like this time, no problem, but on hols cravings got the better of me and I started again-soon back up to 20 a day!!! So I decided, that It was a blip and I would stop again when my mind set was right. And at beginning of this month I decided I either wanted to be a smoker or to stop and I couldn't just smoke and then feel guilty, it had to be one or the other.
I haven't had a cigarette for 12 days, and this website is a great support network, and it would be a hell of alot more difficult without you guys, so thank you all and continued good luck to everyone. If you need support lean on us, we all need to lean on someone sometime.

    Ali, wondered where you'd gone!!

Well done in confronting this, you will make it - you just need the right frame of mind. Sounds as though you're getting well prepared. Don't forget to re-checkout post number 1 on this thread for loads of tips and links, oh, and we're all here for you :D

    Good luck hunny!!

  • Hello everyone, Ali-ok I gave up smoking using Champix. It was VERY easy for me but I must have been in the right frame of mind and also able to get the Champix quite quickly so I did not lose the momentum of wanting to give up. You carry on smoking as per usual using Champix and without you really knowing it you start to cut down - no effort needed so far. On about the 8th day you say today is the day I stop and you do. You need to put in a little effort at this point but not too much. I was VERY nervous about giving up my crutch and best friend but truly it was fine. I went for long walks and got so much fitter which in my case reinforced the the case for giving up.
You can all do it you just have to find your own "key" to giving up.
Good luck to all the quitters.
Hello to all the longer term quitters nice to catch up again.
    Take care all,
