Pencil me in for stopping cold turkey tomorrow - 30 a day at the moment, but the four times I've tried in the past, cold turkey seems the most effective way for me.
I also dropped my mobile in the sea last week and can't afford another unless I quit. Over £40k debts to pay for:rolleyes:
Andy
Here are my tips BTW..
Drink TONS of water to flush the nicotine out of your system faster. Orange juice really helps too.
Put your fag cash in a jar for the first week or two - and just look at it grow so fast!
£54 per week in my case :O0 -
Hi Andy and welcome
Good luck for tomorrow, cold turkey? You are very brave, I went cold turkey the first time but caved in so on the patches now. The itchy leg is irritating but apart from that it does ease the cravings.
I hope it goes well, hopefully in a week or two you shall have a new mobile!
Keep us updated.

jo1972 - The arm is much better thanks. Still pretty colours but not as sore thank goodness.
Can someone B]ANYONE[/B please help me. It has been almost three weeks since I stopped smoking. At first, I must admit, I found it at lot easier than I thought I would. 20 patches a day probably helped. But this week I have found myself really
wanting a ciggie.
Is this normal? What are other peoples experiences?
BTW my OH STILL has not said anything. I must admit I am beginning to get a little pi**ed off now :mad:Proud to be dealing with my debts ONE day at a timeStopped smoking 25.05.07 - Saving £7.80 a day:j Successfully claimed bank charges of £2598.39 as of 1st June 2007:j0 -

Dragon Lady I cant believe your OH hasnt noticed you have stopped smoking :rotfl: glad to hear your arm is getting better too. On my first few attempts to pack in I used to get to about a month and then it did seem to get harder for a while till I lost the habit. I failed this time at just over a month so it does seem to be a bad time.
Havent had one today and have no car so if I do want one I would have to go out in the pouring rain on my bike to the cash point then the shop to buy some ( do you think I have put enough obsticles in my way) do you think I should change my signature and my quit ometer thingy
have I missed something about the itchy leg Jois that from the patch ?
well done fieryblondescot :T

FieryBlondeScot - The three/four week mark must be the brick wall then
. Come to think of it, that was when I gave up giving up last time [if that makes any sense]. I was told the other day at work that I was getting snappy with everyone. I just said that they knew I had given up smoking and my apologies to anyone that I upset. But basically tough!!:D They are all big strong builders, so I am sure they can put up with a grumpy old cow [my new nick name at work] for a few weeks. If not then don't talk to me. Simple really :rotfl:
Oops a daisy - The other day my DS [20yrs] was in the garden having a ciggie. I asked him why he was outside? He said that he had noticed that I wasn't smoking anymore and didn't think it was fair if he smoked in the house anymore ahhh Bess Him. He smokes about 10 a day. Less now if it's raining
So maybe the OH has noticed and is just not saying anything in case I bite his head offHe probably thinks that because he kicked the dreaded weed back in October, that my giving up is not worth a mention?? Might have a quiet little word this weekend.
Well keep up the good work everyone.
Keep strong.
P.S. One thing that I have noticed. When I was a smoker and used the smokers toothpaste it didn't seem to make any difference. Now I'm a non smoker using a smokers toothpaste my teeth are definately whiter. Try it yourselves and see.:D[dazzling smile]

I think the brick wall effect appears because the elation wilts, it's like you are waiting for something to happen, but it already has IYKWIM !The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones. - Chinese Proverb

Morning all,
Dragon Glad to hear the arm is getting better. 3 weeks is definately where you hit a rough point. I think you make such an effort not smoking by thinking about it all day long and being strong that at about 3 weeks the physical symptoms seem to lessen which makes it harder for you to realise why you're doing it if that makes sense (it does in my head, but still a bit early to put it down on paper:rotfl: )
FBS You're doing great, well done!
Oops Good luck for today, you managed it before so you have to say to yourself that you can do it again. The itchy leg is from the patches, I put it on and 20 mins later want to scratch it off lol but after 10 mins or so it dies down. My legs are covered with red squares!!
I've not told anyone that I've stopped smoking and they've only just started to notice now. Everyone at work used to comment on the smoke smell when I came back into the office after being banished out to the car park but they haven't noticed that for a month (well a month tomorrow!!!) that I don't stink the office out any more!

Glad to hear you are all still with us. I know what you mean about the 3/4 week "wall". I gave up 18 months ago for the umpteenth time, but what kept me on the straight and narrow was putting my ciggy money into a saving account on a weekly basis. Hope you all manage to quit, it can be done (speaking as someone who has the will power of a chocoholic let loose in Cadburys)Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0
