Hi all!
Dragon, how's the injuries? Hope you're feeling better now.
FrugalJo, well done on trying again, we will all get there in the end. How are you finding it?
Kathy, good luck! You're doing really well, read through this thread and pick up some tips. Have you tried speaking to your GP about the smoking cessation clinics round your way? You can save loads of money joining the scheme, NRT is half price if you get it on prescription so I'm told. Keep us updated.
How is everyone else doing? You've all gone quiet so I presume you are all either confidently not smoking or gone back to the weed, I hope not, even if you have though come back here for some support and try again, we've all been through it!
I've had a few wobbly moments, I think I'm becoming too complacent so gotta keep on my toes!
Take care all, speak soon.DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -

I have been quit over 5 years now but still remember what it was like at the beginning.
I have now stopped smoking for 5 years, 3 months, 4 weeks, 5 days, 9 hours, 6 minutes, 33 seconds. That translates into 38,887 cigarettes NOT smoked, for a savings of £7,583.08! At 5 minutes per cigarette I have increased my life expectancy by 4 months, 1 week, 2 days, 37 minutes, 57 seconds.
My Past Smoking Costs
Number years I have smoked: 23
Number of cigarettes I have smoked: 167,900
Total amount I have spent on cigarettes: £32,740.50
Forgone interest earnings on money spent: £48,184.75
Total cost of my past smoking: £80,925.25
Thanks

Hi
Well i'd managed 4 days, but had two last night, because they were in the house - grrrr. So now they're all gone, and I'm starting again! I can and will do this!
I find the cravings after a few days worse though.

Hi Jo,
Somehow it was different this time.
I went through many stages of quitting before I finally nailed this last one. I can tell you the diffrence though.
In the past I had always blamed everything on quitting, from an aching back to feeling stressed, I soon realised this time though that not everything is to do with quitting. It does tend to overtake your life but these things would have happened whether you quit or not. Quitting is just the inevitable part of getting back to normal. It may be uncomfortable but it is not painful. I had to remember that it took me a while to become a smoker so why did I think that after just a few hours I would be a non-smoker. It takes time but the main fear came form the unknown, Learn all you can about WHY you smoke rather than concentrate so much on why you shouldn't smoke. There is a difference.0 -
Excellent advice Ian, thanks

Hi,
Will do, any questions just ask.0 -
Well as this is about my fourth attempt at trying to give up I thought i would join in - if that is OK! My quit date was the 29th January 2007, I gave up for a few months and all was going well until I left my old job had a week off and started smoking again (why I don't now!) from then it has been off and on, mostly at weekends. I find in the mornings the hardest - I find I have one when I wake up, have a shower and then put on my patch and I'm fine. There is no more left now so can't do that tomorrow but as you can tell I need all the help I can get.Official DFW Nerd Club - member no: 538
