No you just think it should be taxed.

Yes, all under-occupied property should be taxed if bedroom tax is implemented, not just under-occupied properties of those claiming housing benefit.

They are not taxing it, they are giving less benefit. Take less benefit from me and I won't mind.

I agree, soon give the 'high and mighty' something to moan about.

Could you imagine it? If you own a house with more bedrooms than you need, then you will have to pay (money, tax, whatever you want to call it) or we'll make you move home :rotfl:

Soon shut the benefit bashers up 'why are being picked on, I work hard blah blah blah ......'

Wouldn't bother people - just another tax like removing child benefit, lowering the rate you pay 40%. We get hit with way more than £14 a week often. You just deal with it.

I expect CTC rate lowered too in near future
It's the way it is, there isn't money to round and so they'll take more and are doing. It's expected.

You contradict yourself quite a bit. The thread started with you needing 3 bedrooms, no mention of have tried to downgrade before, suddenly page 4, it's a case of we would do everything to downsize.

Also, you say that you wouldn't take a full time job unless your income was no less than what it is now. So in essence, you are saying that your income is similar to a family working full-time.... so why are you crying about having to spare £14 a week? Are you totally certain that there are absolutely no luxuries in your life that you could cut on?

Finally, you go on about the whole thing as if it's permanent. Surely if you worked full-time before, you are doing everything in your power to get a full-time job and your wife is also looking for a full-time position, it won't be long until one of you do and then the extra £14 won't be an issue any longer?

Wouldn't bother people?? What, you'd let them without voicing your opinion? You wouldn't try to fight to stop it? I'm not surprised the Tories are stamping all over us then if people aren't bothered.

Thankfully, people are fighting this bedroom tax with protests planned up and down the country. Whether it helps or not remains to be seen, but at least people are doing something. You can't just let the government walk all over you.

£14 a week is nothing when you earn in excess of 60K, when youre getting under £100 its an awful lot

    It's NOT a TAX!

People just won't receive as much free money!

There are two of us in our 4 bedrooms 2 full size bathrooms etc house.

BUT - We bought it with our own money and we will be paying £2233.00 council tax on it this year.

We have never asked or received free money to enable us to buy this house.

You, if you live in a council house and there are only two of you, can live in a 3 bedroom house. As long as you pay the whole rent yourselves and don't ask for money from the council!
