Worse than any postage items is the utter fear of receiving a postcard saying the postman called/you were out - and now you have to get to the PO while it's open to collect it - and take ID. That, or the package being too large for the ridiculously, stupid, tiny 'postbox' attached to the wall where the postman has to leave the package.

I wouldn't mind paying the postage if I knew the item would arrive in a timely manner and be in my postbox....

But then it is you who loses out, if your happy with the price, pay it. You have Ebay and Paypals protection so their T&C's are irrelevent and if they don't know it now they soon will when a claim is made against them.

I have still had may bargains even although I knew the postage was a bit high, but then you still have the packaging etc to take into consideration. I always think the sellers who charge just the stamp price are the ones who are the mugs, but it has become this great "how dare they charge an extra £1" on here that people forget they run a business and packaging and labour costs are not cheap and can't easily be given away.

    1: private listings,
2: where its been bid up in small increments by bidders with no feedback,
3: heavy or fragile item that wont allow local pickup.
4: where their feedback is positive But theres lots of small items sold to same buyer.
5: selling same item over and over etc sold like 5 iphones with same listing when only ever sold small items.
6: bought lots of phone parts ( screen etc) then selling a complete phone.
7: really bad spelling and poor listing with bad photo and ending the listing with "its a bargain init"
8: items that you put in the watching that do a low price and you wished you had bid on then they get relisted due to no paying bidder.

been on ebay for many years now and i know it looks like ive gone on and on, But i could go on and on and on.

Never noticed 3,4,5 or 6 but 7 oh yes can't spell, won't spell that is another one that puts me off.

I'm always disappointed with registered and it's a loss of 95p for the seller for small items and pointless, I have collected signed for from my depo without ID or signing.

A couple of negative feedbacks doesn't put me off, but if the response to them is aggressive or sarcastic, that is a definate turn off.

I don't bid on things with a wall of writing for terms and conditions.

Not keen on things posted by mobile phone.

My pet hate is "txt" speak in their write up. It drives me up the wall trying to understand it. Just because its posted "by ebay moblie" doesn't mean it's ok to use txt speak. Screams lazy to me !

    High postage
High bids (when it can be found cheaper elsewhere - people get too carried away on eBay)
    Bad T&C's
    Too many rules
    Too many neg/neutral feedback's
Selling multiples of the same (if they are not a business)
    Slow post feedback
People that only post once a week
    Poorly written sales
    Bad photographs
    Not enough info
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.

None of the above. Only sellers with really bad feedback ie lots of negs or esp with lots of poor attitude replies to negs or neutrals.

I'm amazed that people are put off by auctions that are "private" - do you really believe that they are all shill bidders? I set my auctions on my personal account to private, because I don't want my relatives seeing me flogging off their gifts ;) Won't do that again!

When the t&c's are longer than the item description and full of crap.

    Definitely.
Or when the ebayer has 80 something feedback, this always puts me off. :(

What's wrong with having 80 something feedback? Do you mean 80-something percent? (I have about 83 feedback at the moment but it's all 100% positive.) I won't bid if someone has less than around 98% positive, myself.

I just decided not to bid on a scarf I really wanted. I checked the seller's feedback and they had a negative feedback where the buyer said the item had not been received and the seller had refused a refund. The seller responded saying the item had only been shipped 3 days previously and the buyer should be patient. When I clicked on "view item," though, I could see the sale date was a month before the feedback was left. Therefore I think the seller was lying in their response, especially because in the listing they say they always post within 24 hours of receiving payment.

In my own auctions, I've been selling my clothes that I don't wear or don't fit into anymore. I've noticed the bids are a lot lower when I don't bother ironing the clothes before photographing them. It's my own fault - I just hate ironing but I'll have to start doing it. The clothes are always clean and freshly washed with clear neutral backgrounds, at least.
