What stops you bidding?

I have just watched 2 perfectly good items go because I could not bring myself to pay the postage cost :o the thing is I would have paid the overall price but generally won't bid when the postage is clearly way off. I won't bid on anything where the background is a mess, I also won't bid on items where bidders identity is private or there is loads of drivel T&C which they could not enforce anyway.

eg
Items will be posted once payment has been received, please don't hold me responsible if your parcel is lost in the postal system, I obtain and keep proof of posting certificate until you leave feedback, in the event of a problem i'll help YOU make a claim from the Post Office.

No returns - sorry.

When looking to buy something local for pick up only, it puts me off bidding when people don't say what area of the area I live in they are, if you get me lol ?? Its a big City say where you are please! I hate messaging to ask the question. :o

For myself, protected Feedback and Private Listing means I am dealing with a shill bidder, so no point even bothering and move on to the next product.
    Be happy...;)

:rotfl: All of the above ^^ so I am not alone :D It's a wonder I ever actually bid. I also wish sellers would indicate whether they will combine postage and list the start of their postcode for collection items.

Dodgy looking sellers. There are all sorts of factors that lead to my personal decision that someone is dodgy, several of which are mentioned in previous postings in this thread.

If they state no refunds if you don't receive the item.
    Also loads of negative feedback.
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

I think for me if they can't be bothered to tidy around the photograph, leaving clothes on the bedroom floor or stuff on the kitchen table. Can't be bothered to clean the item or find all of the parts before listing and they can't be bothered to check the postage or check that their T&C are useless, it makes me think the seller is sloppy. Hiding behind private listings makes me think they are dodgy. Does anyone know why people use private listings other than to hide intimate purchases or dodgy dealings?

  • 1: private listings,
2: where its been bid up in small increments by bidders with no feedback,
3: heavy or fragile item that wont allow local pickup.
4: where their feedback is positive But theres lots of small items sold to same buyer.
5: selling same item over and over etc sold like 5 iphones with same listing when only ever sold small items.
6: bought lots of phone parts ( screen etc) then selling a complete phone.
7: really bad spelling and poor listing with bad photo and ending the listing with "its a bargain init"
8: items that you put in the watching that do a low price and you wished you had bid on then they get relisted due to no paying bidder.

been on ebay for many years now and i know it looks like ive gone on and on, But i could go on and on and on.
