Flight delay compensation, all other EU airlines

Thanks. Went back requesting a refund equal to the flights I have already had to rebook through another operator. Basically, got a meaningless reply and told they won't reply further.
What is the best course of action now?
Does anyone have the office legalislation that states that airlines must rebook on an equivalent route?
Should I go to "ombudsman" next? Would that be AviationADR?
Thanks,

Hi Rob,
Google and then download 'Vaubans guide' for lots of info and links to the EC261 regulations etc.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
When were you due to fly originally, ie has there been less than 2 weeks notice? If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Are not the Advance Purchase train tickets transferable for a fee of £10 ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Realistically, take the refund from Wizz and leave it at that.
Err... no.
I find it appalling customer service, I've had to book different flights at a greater cost. I've lost at least £10 on a train fair. I don't see why I should foot the bill.
Cancellation was more than two weeks before, but I understand they are obliged to pay for an alternative route with a different carrier. Why would I want to settle for less and front the cost?

They are not obliged to do anything under regulation 261/2004, other than a refund within 7 days, if they gave you more than 2 weeks notice.
If you want compensation for losses, you will have to appeal to their good nature or take legal action of some sort.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

I find it appalling customer service,
I don't disagree but unless you take legal action you are almost certainly wasting your time. Whether they're obliged to pay for transportation on another carrier depends on how you interpret the regulations and airlines (unsurprisingly) tend to interpret them in the manner that favours them.0 -
I booked a return ticket from Manchester to Bangkok via Helsinki with Finnair in January.
The return flight was delayed in Bangkok and returned to Helsinki 1 hour 28 minutes late which meant I missed my connecting flight to Manchester which would have arrived at 17.00pm.
I got diverted from Helsinki with a different airline Lufthansa to Frankfurt and then a flight from Frankfurt to Manchester which meant I arrived at my final destination at 22.25pm, 5 1/2 hours later than originally scheduled.
Finnair has admitted that the fuel tank 1 main pump showed an indication fault on departure from Helsinki and that the defected part was replaced, however upon my complaint about the delay they have said that no standard compensation will be paid.
Is this right as this does not seem to be extraordinary circumstances?0 -

Hi Rowan2510,
Thanks for reposting.
I don't believe this is right, it was caused by an ordinary technical fault which is not an EC. According to the EC261/2004 regulations you are due compensation.
Did Finnair give you a reason for declining your claim or just refused to pay it?
