Compensation is €600 per person not €500.
OP said flight was only 567km, so compensation limited to €250. Two people flying = €500.

Yes your right, I had been looking at another post where the cancellation was Chicago.

Phew I panicked then that I had read the table incorrect.

567km Birmingham to Dusseldorf is 250EUR per person according to all tables I have seen.
    Thanks peter_333 for confirming.

    Another update.

After my email to EuroWings this morning politely reminding them this isn't a negotiation, I received a response from someone (who may be based in the UK) apologising for the oversight and agreeing 500EUR will be the compensation paid to me. I have been advised it may take 12 days to show but it looks like persistence paid off!!

I shall not celebrate too much, the money actually has to show in my account BUT I have gotten them to agree I am owed the money and the correct amount and they have said they will pay. If I need to take any further action, at least I have more evidence on my side.

I've got another Eurowings flight in 37 days... I live in hope this one runs on time, given I have a 50% cancellation rate with them so far who knows.

    Hi all,

I booked a flight for 2 adults & 2 children from London Heathrow to Mauritius via Zurich. The flight was booked with Swiss Airlines via an online travel agent. The ZRH to MRU leg was operated by Edelweiss under a codeshare.

We arrived in ZRH from LHR with no issues but our MRU leg was delayed by 3h20 on departure. We were never given a reason or communication as the gate was unmanned right up to boarding time. The flight ultimately arrived 3h41m late (as per flightracker.com).

I tried the resolver complaint tool but I couldn't see an option for Edelweiss nor Swiss Airlines. Based on what I've read I should still be eligible to claim for the delay but unsure of how to proceed.

Could anyone kindly steer me in the right direction?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Use the airlines (Edelweiss) website to claim directly from them, it's usually quicker.

    Good luck.

    Hello all.
unfortunately, due to a pilots’ union strike, the flights for me, my wife and 18 month old daughter from Oslo to Manchester tomorrow have been cancelled. I found out through constantly searching the net being as SAS we’re an absolute nightmare to get hold of and, I see, wouldn’t answer questions on their Twitter and Facebook pages (I was trying their numbers but was either on hold for ages or was getting cut off).
Last night, being as the flights were looking as though they’d be cancelled, I booked some later flights for my family through another airline. Finally, an hour ago, SAS confirmed that the flights were cancelled (so I’m glad I took the chance).
However.....SAS have rebooked us on another flight that goes Oslo-Frankfurt-Munich-Manchester and would last eight hours. Being as my wife is pregnant, we have the young daughter and two suitcases, two rucksacks and a baby stroller, this is not do-able.

    my question is;
    1. I’ve read the guide on here and found it useful. The advice for someone in my position is to refuse the rerouted flight...BUT...I can’t cancel the flights!! My wife has contacted them via Facebook messenger but haven’t received a reply.
If we can’t cancel then do we lose our rights?

No. Your flight has been cancelled so you're entitled to a full refund. You might also be due compensation although SAS are refusing all claims at the moment. I expect this to be challenged in Danish courts in the near future.

Thank you. I’ve tried to cancel the rerouted flights that they’ve automatically but SAS haven’t responded?
Will this affect the refund, please?

You don't want a refund, what you must insist upon is the difference in what you've already paid for the SAS flights and the new flights with the alternative alirline.
It would appear that SAS have made it almost impossible for you to contact them so making your own convenient arrangements. Compensation most likely due as pilots strike is not an EC.

jps, on what grounds are SAS refusing compensation?
