hi didnt see it listed and i cant find anything through their website

    referenced in Vauban's guide
    b) You were departing an EU airport on any airline, or were flying into an EU airport on an EU carrier (for the purposes of the Regulation, this also includes Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland)?

The problem you will have is if the airline resist paying - legal action will be pretty tricky, unless you have a residential address within the EU. You could try writing to the Iceland's National Enforcement Body (you'll need to google their details).
  • got it thanks guys. ive already written the airline once and they chose to ignore it. ill try it again, ive got dual citizenship, canadian and polish so maybe thatll help out if it comes down to it. it was more a huge inconvenience than anything else seeing how it took a 5 day trip and shortened it down by a day. although based on how well things went at the airport im quite confident a lot of people have written in to complain to them. it would atleast be nice if they provided some sort of acknowledgment of my politely written complaint letter

Does anyone know how I can find out the address for US Airways in the UK? Their website only has a phone number and when we ring it they say they do not have an address!

Apologies if this info is already on the forum somewhere, but I have been searching and searching and cannot find it.

If they refuse to answer any communication then the only other thing you can do is to take them to court.
  • Hi All,

I travelled with my family from Birmingham (BHX, UK) to Cochin (COK, India) on 12-12-2014 via Dubai on Emirates (single booking reference number for BHX to COK). The incoming flight was delayed due to the morning fog at the Dubai airport. We were informed that take off is delayed until 14:45 (actual take off time was 13:25) when the boarding pass was given. There was some more delay and finally we were in the aircraft by 15:00. We were about to take off and then received the bad news about the air traffic control issue. ATC went down for the whole of UK airspace and this resulted in further delay and we almost had a 3 hour delay to take off resulting in late arrival (again close to 3hrs) in Dubai and we missed our connection flight to Cochin (we had a connection time of 2hr & 30min). We were routed through Muscat (Dubai to Muscat by emirates and then Muscat to Cochin by jet airways) and we arrived Cochin on 13th night (Almost 11hr delay from our actual schedule). We also had a missing baggage (our little one's push chair) on arrival at Cochin airport. We had to leave the airport with out push chair and then had to go back to airport later to collect it.

The reason for both delays (Fog and ATC going down) are beyond the airlines control. Will Emirates pay any compensation for the 11hr delay and the inconvenience caused for me and my family? Please let me know.
  • Apologies if this has been dealt with previously, but this is a huge forum. Can anyone advise me about the codeshare issue, which seems to be a big grey area.

We booked with Qantas for Heathrow to Brisbane, changing at Dubai. There was a technical fault on the Qantas A380 at Heathrow, meaning that we left 2.5 hours late and arrived in Dubai with the same delay, 20 minutes before our flight to Brisbane was due to depart. The Brisbane flight was operated by Emirates, although we had the Qantas flight number. We were told we had missed the connection (even though they held the Perth flight scheduled to depart before ours) and were shunted off to a hotel. Emirates looked after us, but we arrived in Brisbane 18 hours behind schedule incurring unnecessary hotel charges (for us and our daughter - who was meeting us there) and a missed day of holiday.

Qantas are cleary at fault for the initial delay, but do we have any reasonable chance of claiming any compensation given Emirates' involvement?

Correspond with QF. They'll say all kinds of waffle and bluster to confuse and put you off. Ultimately though you may have to start a small claim to get somewhere, read Vauban's guide.
