    1) No, forget the CAA - there are irrelevant and may be unhelpful

I decided to push mine through small claims court in the end, It was issued to US airways yesterday.

    Fingers crossed.

    thanks

I'm starting a claim against US Airways - 5 hour delay at final destination due to aircraft maintenance cancellation of a connecting flight.

Can anyone help with a UK contact address or advise where to send claim documents?

    Thanks.
    Just broke, even.

    Hi nickbeee,
Address's I used were the following.
    United Airlines, Inc
    233 S Waker Drive
    Chicago IL 60606
    United States.

I don't believe these airlines are connected - Continental merged with United but US Airways and United are 2 different entities

No probs Lynda! I may have mentioned United in previous posts as I've been delayed by them too, although due to ATC and weather which are acceptable reasons for delays as far as the regs are concerned.

US Airways have now merged with American Airlines but as far as claims go I'm dealing with US Airways. I made a few phone calls to their UK contact number this morning and they were evasive about a UK address, saying that initially I must submit my claim to www.usairways.com/feedback. I've submitted my claim there which I expect to be rejected as it was the connecting flight that was cancelled. I'm now aware of the Folkerts case thanks to this thread so I will press them on this.

Some digging around Google turned up an address of
    Landmark House
    Hammersmith Bridge Road
    Hammersmith
    London
    W6 9EJ

There are quite a few other companies and organisations being listed for that address, I'm sure a call to one of the others will confirm if US Airways are resident in the building :)

Here is the response from US Airways - They have offered me a voucher for USD150.

We regret that your Flight 4606 from Philadelphia on March 14th, 2014 was cancelled. As you may know this flight did not operate as scheduled due to an unexpected mechanical situation. Please accept our apology for the inconvenience and impact on your travel plans this irregularity caused. It is never our intent to create difficulties for you, or any of our passengers, and appreciate that this disruption was a frustrating experience.

Further, we thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to your request for compensation based on European Regulation 261/2004. While we regret the impact this cancellation had on your travel plans, our records indicate Flight 735 from Manchester arrived on-time in Philadelphia and the delay in your travel occurred on your Flight 4606 between Philadelphia and Dayton, a domestic flight within the United States. Since the United States is not a member state within the European Union and US Airways is not a community carrier, we are not required to adhere to the rules of the EU for flights between cities within the United States. As such, no compensation under the EU Regulation No. 261/2004 is due.

I can see this flight’s cancellation caused you a major inconvenience. To reiterate my apology for the mechanical cancelation and as an invitation to try US again, I have issued one $150.00 Electronic Travel With Us Voucher (E-TUV).

Based on your comments, it appears we could have done a better job of assisting you, and I assure you the necessary steps will be taken to help prevent a recurrence.

Reading the Folkerts ruling again, seems that they are claiming they are not not obliged to compensate under 261/2004 as my flight from Machester to Philadelphia arrived on-time. Can anybody advise on this?

    Thanks,

Can anyone advise please - we had a family holiday in June 2007, family of 7 leaving Dublin airport to New York to Orlando. The plane slightly delayed took off from Dublin flew to Shannon (Still Southern Ireland) where we cleared American customs and were supposed to fly from Shannon on to New York. However the flight was delayed by mechanical failure and instead of arriving as planned 29 June we finally arrived late 30 June. The 12 hour delay in leaving Shannon meant we missed our flight from New York to Orlando. We wrote to the Airline when we got home by email and fax all they offered was money off voucher for another flight which we returned and rejected. After my subsequent emails went unanswered we gave up. However I just recently found out about compensation due to delayed flights - is it too late for us?

too late, you have 6 years to commence court action so although the guidance says you can claim back to 2005, the airline can quite happily ignore you or reject your claim knowing full well that there is nothing you can do
you will find the info in the FAQs
