  • I want to claim a cancelled flight but I don't know if it's better to do alone or with a company. Has someone any idea?

Or alternatively just start your own thread, lest you accidentally read someone's post that answers your question ...

  • I decided to push mine through small claims court in the end, It was issued to US airways yesterday.

    Fingers crossed.

    thanks

Hello All, Hopefully somebody can give me some advice here.

I was delayed on a flight in 2009 to the US the delay was 8+ hours.

US Airways offers me a $800 voucher, Id never fly with them again due to the quality of the service not the delay.

I refused the voucher and went to the CAA, I got a reply last week (before the new court ruling) I had two replies one telling me the delay was due to a miscommunication and a ground staff member was injured. Then I got a second email telling me that the previous email was incorrect and the delay was due to a "unforeseen engine malfunction" and thus I would not be due any compensation.

They go on to say I can issue a claim through the court.

Unsure if I should just give up or not?

    thanks
  • In September last yoar we were booked to fly from Manchester to NYC. We were checked in. At the gate it was announced that the flight was cancelled. We were rerouted through Heathrow arriving 6 hours late.

I have prepared a claim which I sent by post to a address for AA in Houndslow. The letter has been returned by the post office, addressee gone away. I have contacted AA by phone, they have been unable to provide me with a postal address. The only other customer services contact details I have been able to find is an email form which does not allow one to attach my letter/ticket/boarding card etc. I have emailed the address and received a standard response. Does anybody have a postal address to which the compensation claim can be made.

The mrs was on the same flight and she's not due back till later today. We are definatly applying as it should be around £500 compo.

The only plus was she didn't miss the mens Olympic hockey final which she would of done if the flight was on time

We also had an almost 15 hour delay in June when travelling with Air Transat from Glasgow to Toronto, we were travelling with our four young children and it was awful. My husband and I were both up for around 28hours in total. The thing that annoyed me most is that when we were waking our children up at 2am so we could travel to the airport, Air Transat already knew that our flight would be around 12 hours late as the plane hadn't even left Toronto yet and hadn't bothered to let anyone know. The plane had technical issues and then just when they thought it had been fixed, and had set off they had to make an emergency landing in Montreal as they had another problem.

Has anyone received compensation from Air Transat? We're going to send a letter off tomorrow anyone but I just wondered how likely it was that we would receive anything?

That largely depends whether they comply with the law that applies to them.

Have a look at the thread "Flight Delay Compensation Important Info - Please check before posting" and search the forum for the airline.
