I've now submitted the claim via mcol, will update on the case here. Thanks for everyone's help so far.
Hi! I have just received the exact same letter as you did from United about the routine maintenance meaning they don't owe compensation.
I was wondering if you had any further communication from United since you have filed your claim?0 -
Hi, so im completely new and totally overwhelmed by this process so any help would be much appreciated.
So my flight was delayed 287 minutes from Amsterdam to JFK, if im right this makes me able to claim since it left from the eu?
My flight was with delta but ran though klm so i would still put the claim in with delta?
Finally the delay was due to a burst hydraulic pipe which would be technical problems on there end so i should be fine to claim?
Sorry about asking so many question but i just don't want to go writing a letter to be shot down by a mega company.0 -
as per the FAQs the claim is from the operating airline, you will find a link to template letter in post #2 on this thread0

Hi, they've recently acknowledged the claim, which gives them a further 14 days from yesterday to submit a defence. Looking forward to their defence and will post up when I get it, don't see how they can defend it to be honest so will be fun pulling it apart!0 -
Hello please can anyone help me?
We were delayed tues 27th Aug at Detroit for 5 hours.
I booked a package holiday with ocean florida.
Heathrow to detroit detroit to orlando.
My booking states KLM flights operated by Delta.
It was a mechanical fault.
We only got $25 credit for food.
Should have left at 22.25 actuallt left about 03.50 the next day.
Arrived in Heathrow at 16.05 on Wed 28th Aug.
Flight KL6078 on my paperwork but Delta called the flight DL0018.
CAN I CLAIM ANY COMPENSATION THROUGH KLM?
Or as DELTA is a US COMPANY WILL I NOT BE ABLE TO ?
Thanks to anyone who replies. xx0 -
Linda,
I picked this up on the other post you made, but this one is lightly clearer.
If Delta flew you back to the UK, you are not due compensation I'm afraid. Even though the flight was a code share with KLM.0 -

It sounds like you were delayed leaving America to come home, if so in that case you are not covered as you weren't leaving an EU country.0 -
Hi,
I have spent the last 2 hours reading threads on this board, so I hope I'm not asking something obvious.
I have just got back after being delayed for 48 hours, but am not sure if I am eligible for compensation. I booked flights using Delta from the UK to Orlando. The journey home was Orlando to New York then New York to Paris and then Paris to home.
We boarded the flight 1 hour late as the plane had to pass some safety inspection (the pilot announced this after we boarded and apologised for the delay). As we had missed our take off slot, we sat on the tarmac for over an hour before taxing to the runway. When it was our turn, the plane sped up for the take off and there was an almighty cracking noise followed by a lack of momentum and then an emergency stop. One of the engines had stalled. Thank god we had not lifted off the ground.
They could not get us all on a flight together until Monday 2nd September, so we flew home separately. I arrived back here around 2pm today and should have got home on Thursday around 12 noon.
The complication is that the flight was from New York to Paris, booked through Delta but flown by Air France. The flight number on my original boarding card is an Air France number - no Delta number is displayed. I was unable to check in at the Delta kiosks and had to use Air France to check in.
Would I have a claim against Air France?
Thanks for your help (off to read some more).0 -
as per the FAQs the claim is against the operating airline. So if AF operated it then you claim from them. If you had been on a Delta aircraft even if it also has an AF number and you booked through AF you would have had no claim0

Thank you. I wasn't totally sure. And having had such little sleep the last few days things are not making much sense.0
