No diet plan I've ever followed uses the AA 12 steps, thankfully!

You know, from reading your posts across the boards, I'd never had known you were a 12 stepper
  • Good morning all!

I have been up half the night with my DS again so shattered! Have had a slice of grainy toast with peanut butter and just had some yoghurt (natural low fat greek style) with some grapes. Was going to have some almonds and sunflower seeds too but DH forgot them at Sainsbobs yesterday!

Not going far so going to read my beyond temptation book in the hope that I can get some tips and help re controlling the binges. I shall report back.

Had a bit of a tiff with Mr Oops and ended up eating 3 fairycakes (after my tea) last night - didn't need them and didn't really want them, tried to think about why I ate them and I suppose it was because I felt down about the tiff and I got my 'oh well, might as well' head on. I suppose it could have been worse and I could have carried on to a binge.

At least it has helped me to identify a trigger though. And if Mr Oops would just realise that I am always right, I wouldn't have that problem!!!!

Onwards and upwards though! Eggy omelette for lunch with some steamed veg (lots of colours).

Well done on upping the protein (eggs, peanut butter) it will help you stay fuller for longer and hopefully resist the binge :)

I'm having a shaky moment, i had porridge at 8.30am but I'm starving now and want honey in my green tea but I know it will send me on a search for more sugar!

Will drink some water and try to wait til lunch...

I understand the eating cakes when feeling miffed but we are only hurting ourselves. If you eat the cake without any negative feelings it's much healthier than eating it with a sod-me and sod-you attitude!

I know, easier said than done!

Keep some nuts on hand maybe if you want a munch after dinner.

Jox- it's probably better to eat a bit more often. If you last ate at 8.30am, and you posted at noon saying you were really hungry, maybe you could have a snack (a banana for example) at 10.30, then lunch at 12.30.
That way, you are eating little and often, keeping you satiated, and also keeping your metabolism ticking over.
Being overly hungry was always a huge trigger for me, as i would end up eating too much, whereas i now eat little and often (every 2-3 hours) and rarely binge (still struggle with TOTM though!).
  • Well I think one of my triggers is tiredness. I suffer from fatigue a lot and I think it is probably partly due to my diet which doesn't help. I suffer from TMJ too which means i often wake up with a headache and don't sleep properly.

Well this afternoon, I dozed on the sofa and felt quite sick when I woke and ended up eating 3 more fairy cakes that MIL made for DH birthday. It was like i was still so tired when I woke that I needed a quick fix. Now I feel disgusted and hovering on the edge of going mad but I'm trying to hold off! That's why I'm posting here. Hoping the moment will pass. I feel anxious and I suppose scared that I am going to go and eat anything i can.

On the bright side, i found an easy recipe for sardine pate which I am going to make to take to work for lunches. Apart from veg crudit!s, can anyone suggest anything to have it on please?
  • I haven't read the whole thread because I'm lazy so I apologise if anyone has already said the same thing.

    Lock those fairy cakes away!

Drink water and eat something with protein and full fat (not reduced fat or light stuff as that plays havoc with sugar levels).

How about ryvita to put the pate on or a lettuce leaf even??

I like hummus with carrots and cucumber and celery.

I had a cheese sandwich with cucumber and lettuce on multigrain wholemeal bread about an hour and a half ago. Am so hungry!

Want to have crisps and choc but might go out and stock up on bananas and nuts to snack on at work.

My face actually looks better today from no sugar over the weekend (or definitely less than usual) and no tea or coffee (except for green tea). I feel less dizzy as well.

Right off to forage for healthy food!

I agree - lock the fairy cakes away and give Mr Oops the key!

A nice dollop of pate should go well with rocket and spinach salad :)

I look like Uncle Fester with dark circles under my eyes!!

I tried hummus but it crippled me with wind and it was so painful!

I have kept myself busy and the urge for a binge seems to have disappeared!

junk food - refined sugar (chocolate) and flour (bread, biscuits, cakes) are addictive. Your brain will keep wanting them and its almost impossible to resist. You have to just try and cut them out slowly and your brain will eventually not crave them all the time. Its hard but possible, try having lots of fruit instead - much healthier - when you crave sugar/fat/junk food. Also eating healthy will keep you full
