Why Is There Not Much Help For Binge Eating Disorder (and if there is, where is it?)

I have tried hypnotherapy too, but it has not made any difference I have noticed.
Mindfulness is really in at the moment so I am trying it, but my mind is not there at all, I cannot concentrate.
It is hard not to have self esteem issues is our society. There is so much pressure to be good looking, fashionable, all of which requires lots of money, to be confident, to be good at networking, to be talented in some field you can work in. Everytime I go out to try to make friends, I see people who are talented in different fields doing so well in their careers. Its impossible for me to keep up, so I stay at home, avoid people, eat crap and end up exhausted with the 20 minute walk to the tube station.
I have not even started my day by the time I reach the tube station but I am out of breath and and feel shaky. Then changing tube lines, there are so many stairs, I feel like I am going to pass out but you have to keep going. How do millions manage it every day?
This month my period has been much heavier, does that mean that any dietary improvements that have increased my iron levels just got wasted?
Thanks again Firefox, turns out there is nothing wrong with my cooking skills, my friend didn't even want to eat, but as it was so delicious she ended up having some. It is just that flats I see friends live in and ones I have lived in are electricity only. I think my cooking is crap because I think I am crap at everything.0 -
Well I did it!
I went out for a run - although not sure you could actually call it that - only ran for 1 min intervals! But I enjoyed being out in the fresh air and the sunshine. I feel quite tired but good that I did it.
Next outing of the same thing is Tuesday.
I've also just had some boiled eggs and wholemeal soldiers which I thoroughly enjoyed :-)!0 -
Well done Daisy!!
Are you doing to C25K? I know that you can download some podcasts from the NHS via this link: http://www.nhs.uk/LiveWell/c25k/Pages/couch-to-5k.aspx0 -

I have the C25K app but I'm following the plan in a book called Running Made Easy which is a similar thing.
I also have the runkeeper app which I created a workout on using the book as a guide. Got my music on and was off. Was hard at first but really enjoyed once I go going!0 -

Hi soph, I could've written that, I commute twice a day, get one overground train and two underground lines there and back and feel overwhelmed with all the people and the stairs.
I get dizzy going down the stairs. It's like survival of the fittest to get through the commute. By the time I get to work I want a coffee and milk and 2 sugars and by the time I get home I want to collapse!
I have heavy periods, I've got a large fibroid and a small polyp which may cause that. I take liquid iron. I'm hoping that as I improve my diet and cut out the excess sugar that my periods may get lighter. I also read that exercise can help with fibroids.
It's a lifelong process, I hope we all find the path we should take to health.
Please try to get some help for self-esteem issues, you are a worthy person, you deserve good things just like everyone else. You are talented in your own way. You just need to believe it.
Oopsadaisy, well done on the walk/run, and the boiled eggs and soldiers, yummy!

I understand this, and it seems to have got worse over the years. I don't remember having all these 'pressures' when I was your age. I think I decided at an early age that no one was going to approve of me whatever I did, so I might as well do it my way.
What has worked for me is achieving things. I've had the voices in my head from when I was a child 'oh she'll never...' When I say 'achieving things' I mean achieving anything. Anything at all. Being able to run a bit further would work. Baking a cake or making a cushion would work. To give an example: my eldest GD was no good at school because of undiagnosed dyslexia. She's now qualified as a painter and decorator, and that has a theoretical component, which she thought she'd never be able to do.
It may need to be something that has a 'feel-good factor' that will work for you and may be very individual to you alone.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Well done you. Way to go! Who cares if you only ran for one-minute intervals? That's one minute longer than I could run!Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Well my boiled eggs and soldiers seem to have kept me full!
I'm at my in laws for tea at the mo and MIL has done lots of goodies for DH birthday. Heelllppp! I actually feel quite full still so I will just enjoy a small amount.
I definitely agree in that I hope we all find our own paths to health and happiness. And high self esteem!
I shall keep posting and hopefully others too and hopefully we will all help each other!x0 -

Well done! DH and I always have protein in some form for breakfast, often egg in some form. We discovered a long time ago that so-called 'breakfast cereals' are neither use nor ornament and we never buy them. I tried all the 'healthy' ones, the mueslis etc and they didn't do us any favours. When you read on the packet how much sugar even the 'healthy' ones contain you realise you don't need it.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

I know! Cereals are shocking. I had Bran Flakes after my porridge debacle but only because we hadn't been grocery shopping at that point. The amount of sugar in them is unreal - and they're one of the ones that people associate with being healthy.
I am going to have to think of breaky ideas because I really can't stomach things early on. That's why I had been making my bars which were just oats, small amount of fruit, butter small amount, honey small amount. I know butter and honey aren't great but the amounts were very small in comparison with the other ingredients.
Tomorrow I am going to make a tuna sandwich for lunch, I think. And maybe have my yoghurt nuts and grapes for afters - all in my 15 min break!0
