    Hi,

I haven't read the whole thread but I wanted to say I also binge eat. To me, it's not emotional eating, it's very much an addiction or compulsion - almost like "I can so I will". I'm a very addictive person, although a lot of people who know me would be shocked at that as I am mostly very sensible I do get addicted to things very easily.

My compulsive eating is a bit better, having read Paul McKennas gastric band book. But it is still a problem for me. I'm lucky I'm not really overweight, but I could do with losing about half a stone.

The solution is definitely changing the thoughts about food and breaking the addiction - not dieting, as that will never last in the long run as long as the addiction remains

    Hi FelinePrincess,

You could be describing me to a tee, though I do need to lose 6 stones.

I completely agree with the "not dieting" aspect. For the past few days I've been eating normal meals and allowing myself 3 Jaffa cakes with my coffee in the afternoon. Before I wouldn't have allowed myself any....then a few hours later I'd have eaten the entire packet.

I'm feeling more in control because I'm not feeling deprived and yet not feeling guilty either because I have decided beforehand to have something and enjoy it. xx
