It's far better than beer, partly because it doesn't bloat you up with the fizz and air!

It still contains 500-600 calories per bottle though!

G-G I had worked a lot on my all round fitness before taking up running, so as far as I'm concerned that's a good strategy! Glad your op went well, did it take you long to recover from that?

I was thinking the same yesterday actually. Although the best training for running is running, there's no point in killing yourself and not enjoying it. Far better to get yourself fitter so you can actually enjoy the run. That's the point at the end of the day!
John as long as you enjoyed yourself there is absolutely no shame in letting your hair down for a weekend! :D We may be keen exercisers but there is still more to life!

I agree. I'm just disappointed that I didn't last longer than a week without a drop of booze passing my lips. Still, at least it gives my street cred a boost ROFL!!!

Running's always easier if you have someone else there I find.

I've just been to the gym 8.28K's in 35 mins on CT. I told her I was playing football tonight as well. Whoever said romance was dead? :)

    Well done!

Imagine the feeling you'll get when you get where you want to be. You have to break your ultimate goal into smaller one's. That way you feel a sense of achievement on your way there:)

You've ticked off one of the small goals enroute to the top.

    Well Done! :)

Well done John and G-G! :D

I'll add to today's list of achievements by posting my new personal best for 5km run!
    :j 28 mins 22 sec :j
    Well chuffed with that! :D

While I was warming up on the cross trainer I was wondering - John, you might know the answer to this - when you measure distance travelled on the cross trainer, what is it supposed to represent?

Obviously the treadmill represents running distance, and exercise bike is the distance you would have travelled if you were cycling.... but what's the cross trainer measurement based on?

Its about time alcohol was made calorie free! I love a good drink or five. My weight is quite stable it doesnt vary a great deal - give or take 2 - 3 pound here and there. I still weigh the same as what I did when I was at school and Im now 34 and two kids later I still have a flat tum. Good metabolism I think, not sure how old we all are using this thread but has anyone found it harder as they have got older with regards to calorie intake and weight gain. Im often told wait till you hit forty then you'll gain weight!!
