I do lots of exercise, I've changed my shape for the better over the last nine months or so, but not lost the (ahem) muffin tops... I know this is because I eat too much chocolate and too many biscuits... but how do you deal with the cravings?!!

    I have the same problem!

I now snack on soups, suagar free jelly with sugar free angel delight, pretzels (not too many), salted microwave popcorn, and strawberrys in a meringue with a little tip top.

I have found that by cutting my carbs down, especially at lunchtime, I have reduced the amount I want to eat by quite a lot! I think bread etc was making me hungry..

The best way to deal with it is to keep yourself away from the temptation - don't have any choccy or biccies in the house, make yourself healthy lunches so you're not tempted to go to the shop etc. If there's nothing to eat, you can't eat it - works for me, anyway.

Also eat more fruit and drink more water - you'll feel full more of the time, making snacking *a little* less appealing.

Also, try and get a rough idea how many calories are burnt by your exercise...puts things into perspective...I found that by cutting out my cans of soft drink in a day it was almost like running a couple of miles each day...I've found I almost "collect" snacks now - "woohoo, i've saved 1000 calories today!"

I agree with this. I do my shopping online with Tesco now as I get the £5 of a £50 shop thingy from here... and it really helps with stopping the impulse buys of chocolate etc.. I'm lucky as i'm not a crisps person, just choccy and cereal I enjoy most, and after dinner snacking... :o

OH asked me earlier what goodies were coming with shopping? I said nothing! :rotfl:

He tried to get me to go MacDonals for lunch, I refused!

He wants a BBQ for tea.. I've said no.. :A

Something tells me he is sabotaging my efforts to get fit and lose weight!

I'm a crisps person and I love beer, ale and wine at the weekend too. It's a killer. All of the above are loaded with calories and cause water retention. Healthy stuff!

People don't pay enough attention to diet and fitness in tandem. They tend to go overboard on one or the other and then pack it in when they don't see the results.

It shouldn't be classed as dieting anyway, fitness and diet should be rebranded as "lifestyle change". If you treat it as anything else you WILL fall off the wagon at some stage.

I'm a creature of habit though. When I'm good I'm good for ages, then I have a blowout and continue down that path.

    Must try harder!!

I'm lucky, I don't really drink.. apart from when i'm out with mates, and even then i'm a lightweight and end up being sick :o

I agree with the lifestyle change! I always try and get into it too much too quick.. and then fail. This time I really want to get going with it, but keep it realistic and interesting!

Lol - Didn't take you for a 'puker'!

I do that - I go to gym or whatever and try to move mountains. After a week or two of suffering pack it in! Slow and gentle is the ONLY way to begin.

I think this thread could be a good motivator - Time will tell........

I'm good at motivating :D Just no good at motivating myself! :o

It's easy to sit and plan things you want to do, but I guess the crunch comes when you actually have to do them!

I have booked Body Pump tomorrow and I'm already thinking of backing out! but then I think, well if I don't go I will feel bad, not get any benefit and then regret it! So I must go! I will be so happy if I do! (after the pain that is).

I've been doing exercises! New ones! Dunno what they are called tho!

Image a raised decking area in my garden. I stand infront of it, facing away from it, put my hands on the decking and then go into a semi-sitting, legs outstretched position, and raise my body up and down, using my arms as leverage on the decking. Seems to be doing my shoulders, upper arms and across the top of my chest.. :D Cheaper than the gym anyhow!

Your sooo right. It's easy to motivate others but yourself...Nightmare!! Same for the planning!

Lol - You've been doing exercises and don't know the names - Could be anything ;) Sounds like a tricep dip to me - I recommended it in a previous post. They are really good for your triceps.
