    Hi all

Hope you don't mind me butting in but out of curiousity does anyone know what muscle % is acceptable for female fitness?
Im always finding articles about BMI and Fat % but surely there must be recommended minimum muscle %??
I had mine measured once during a Fitness test which the martial arts club I attend performed for me and some others. But cant think what it was now...will have to find out the paperwork!

Anyway just curious. Im sure some knowledgable soul will know. :)

Hmm, i'm not sure myself, but I know you have to have 5% body fat for a 6 pack, which i'm sure is classed as unhealthy for a female. So i'm guessing around 10%.. but this really is only a guess.. x

    Haha, I don't have an IPOD :p

Thanks for the reply John. Yep, I get theoretical calorie numbers from a website currently and I'll compromise on that feature if I need to. What I am interested in is a much more complete multi sports feedback wrist unit (suitable for a petite female). I've got some seriously sporty people I can have a word with, just thought there might be someone on here who had a recommendation at their fingertips :D

Gemma, my phone has a stopwatch feature which measures times/laps/splits, it's under 'extras'. Maybe yours has similar? I hate running with my phone but I'm a Mum so I need to be contactable at all times really :) I was able to run continuously for over 30 minutes on my 4th session (after a year's worth of fitness training that has included just about everything BUT running!)

Misspointy - I too would like to see a chart or guide for female muscle % (not body fat %) - can anyone help? John, I could only spot body fat % info on the link you provided, is the muscle data somewhere on there too?

or if I jog with a friend we can compare numbers afterwards - even if it's just to say "that's a load of rubbish!" :D I'd never take the calorie numbers as gospel but it's useful to have a guide :)

If you're interested in being able to compare your performance with your friends, there are plenty of tools online to do this kinda thing...

I've just started using mapmyrun.com and have to say it's pretty cool.
(man, this post is starting to sound like spam, isn't it)

You can enter the route you've run, it'll tell you how far it was, then you can enter your weight etc and the time you ran it in and it'll tell you how many calories you've supposedly burned...might be worth a look if you're interested. I know it does walking and cycling too...not sure about skiing though :)

Sorry no I misread the previous post. I couldn't find a table when I searched.

Body fat is an indicator of health and body muscle is more of a personal preference imo. I think you will find it harder to locate a decent table for body fat due to this. You can try though - There has to be something somewhere!

    Anyways, spammer aside..

Today is a new day, which means a hundred more chances of getting that fitness up..

So, what have we all got planned?
