Thanks John. I'm looking for something I can use to get feedback on all activities really, not just running. I'll keep looking. If only they did a 'petite' version of the one my friend has

Agree with you completely about the calorie counts and I've found most equipment to be far too generous :rotfl: I would still like to have this facility though, because I do so many different things and it would be useful to see which activities are theoretically burning more calories than others. For example, how does an hour's skiing compare to an hour's cycling, or if I jog with a friend we can compare numbers afterwards - even if it's just to say "that's a load of rubbish!" :D I'd never take the calorie numbers as gospel but it's useful to have a guide :)

Hi G-G (how did John know your name is Gemma?!) Good luck with your fitness training! You sound very dedicated so I'm sure you'll do great!

I've been for a run today, 5km, second one this week. I'm still a running newbie though :)

Why don't you just save yourself cash and have a browse on Google. There has to be a site somewhere that gives you generic calorie burn figures for any given exercise, and it would save you splashing out?

I was chatting to Gemma on another thread - She's trying to get fit to start a new career!

I too haven't really ever been into running. It hurts my feet intenesly as I have an athritic joing in my big-toe ball joint (old footie injury). Athritis and I'm only 28!! However, I need to get into it and regain my fitness. I think I might aim for a 4 mile limit so as not to hurt my feet too much, but get a decent run to blow off the cobwebs.

Sounds like a good start for the sit-ups and press-ups.

As for runnig, use the same build up slow approach. Here's a programme I just searched for you:

Get yourself a cheap wrist stopwatch. You can pick digital one's up for next to nothing nowadays. You can set the countdown and it will bleep at you. Means you have to turn the IPOD down though!

    Hi all

Hope you don't mind me butting in but out of curiousity does anyone know what muscle % is acceptable for female fitness?
Im always finding articles about BMI and Fat % but surely there must be recommended minimum muscle %??
I had mine measured once during a Fitness test which the martial arts club I attend performed for me and some others. But cant think what it was now...will have to find out the paperwork!

Anyway just curious. Im sure some knowledgable soul will know. :)
