Well done Hannahsmummy, now that its all out in the open you can BOTH deal with it. The hardest part is over and the debt you have is relatively low compared to many people on here. You have done so well on your own trying to clear this and hopefully hubby will help you out now and you can start to enjoy the money you work hard for. Big hugs

Hi HM I read your thread last night and had to look in this morning to see if you had updated. Im glad you feel like a weight has been lifted and you are feeling better about the situation.

But I cant understand why has you DH only got £100 a week to live on if he earns 57k a year? I am also concerned that he does not give you money for your daughter there is no excuse for this. I have a feeling he is going to talk you into you feeling sorry for him. I hope you and your DH can sort this out and you can come out of this feeling more positive and dont be afraid of your DH stand up to him more FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SAKE if you feel you can. I noticed he is still controlling the situation by telling you no we will speak about it Saturday, when you wanted to talk about it last night. I hope this helps and dont be offended by what I have to say.

BE STRONG thinking of you and sending positive thoughts.

Well done, it took a lot for you to do this. I'm pleased that it went better than you expected and hope that when you have your proper sit down talk later you can both be calm and not shout or argue. You've got a lot further along than me, my husband still doens't know about most of the debt I've been in, I have paid 75% of it off now and, it may be wrong, but I'm hoping that I can pay it all off without him ever having to know!

Good luck for this afternoon, let us know what happened

I'm also pleased things went better than you expected, he might not be saying as much but it seems to me he is thinking about his part of the situation. He is responsible too for you not telling him sooner, if he can understand that and make changes so he is more approachable you will have a much stronger marriage.

Sorry but I cant help butting in here. Maybe you should ask your husband where all his money is going if he's only got £100 a week to live on. My OH earns slightly less than that about £50k and we pay £1000 a month mortgage, £1,000 a month off the debts, £240 per month savings towards extra tax bill (he also gets taxed at source), all the bills, £300 per month rent for daughter at uni, £169 a month van loan, £70 a week food & household goods shopping etc etc. Also daughter's uni fees. (£1080 a year) Things are very tight but we do manage to pay all this. So you could echo his words. He has a £57k job and nothing to show for it, where is it all going?

I'm not meaning to be offensive here, but what example is this setting to your daughters? That you end up being a virtual slave to some guy who sounds like he's living in a World that should have been gone in the last century, and that's okay? Please, for their sakes at least, get on a more equal footing, and drag him into the 21st century rather than leaving him in the 19th. Control freaks can change, but won't unless they're made to.
    All the best with this.
