Os Daily Friday 4th May

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for FRIDAY 4TH May 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning AMIE and all who follow.
I've been up since about 4am as well. I know that its my own fault but my friend rang yesterday afternoon and asked if I'd like to go over and share a bottle of wine. So I did and 5 hours and 3 bottles later I staggered home.
Now I have the hangover from hell and I've got college this morning.to everyone who wants / needs one.
Hope everyone has a great bank holiday weekend.
I'm sure your mums 70th will be really special Amie. Your ginger and prawn eggs sound yummy.
Morning Penny pincher Good luck with your essayUseless x;)

Morning to AMIE, PENNYPINCHER,USELESSWITH£ and all who follow after!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMIE’S MUM :bdaycake: :bdaycake: and tell her I think she has a wonderful family but, she probably knows that anyway! She must be a special lady and I hope she has a truly special day! And, AMIE, you just relax and enjoy the day after all the hard work and planning and worry about the hangover later!
PENNYPINCHER – so sorry you had a bad night again. Don’t do too much today – you’ll obviously be glad when the essay is finished. Sounds like you’re almost there. Good luck!:A :A
USELESSWITH£ - your hangover sounds worse than mine! Seriously, I only had a couple of beers when DS2 and his GF came round for dinner last night so I just feel a bit groggy – yours sounds like the hangover-from-hell! I hate those because you know the only cure is to put up with it all day feeling like c**p and then have another night’s sleep! I’m just starting to get into aromatherapy and things like that so I will look through my books for a potion! I’m sure I’ve seen one for hangovers. Will post it when I find it – we could all probably do with a cure now and again!:A :A
Well, dinner went really well last night and DS2’s GF confessed that now she understands how her mother used to get excited if she didn’t have to cook for a night! Since they moved into their own home in December, they’ve realised that it’s not that easy running a home and, especially, how you end up so pushed for time! Anyway, we all enjoyed ourselves and will do it more often.
Well, I’ll be changing sheets today and trying to clean right through the house but DH only remembered last night that he has the dentist at 9.30 so will go to work after that – I can’t really go up and whip the sheets off now, can I? I’ll have to do something else before he wakes up! I hope he doesn’t need any dental treatment – it costs a fortune nowadays!
I shall also be popping along to the farm shop to get my fruit and veg and the butcher’s for the meat; I find that really saves time and hassle when I do the ‘big’ shop on Saturdays and, of course, much better quality food. Then I must do a proper menu-planning session! I start off with great intentions but it just ends up forming part of my great paperwork mountain! I’m going to see if I can find a big notebook for it or make up a spreadsheet or something because it’s something I really want to do properly – I know it saves time, money and the hassle of wondering what to eat every day!
Anyway, I think I’ll start my chores off by having another cuppa and checking out the weather!
Have a great morning and will catch up with you all later. (((hugs))) to all who need or just want them!

Morning all - will be working overtime today so heading in shortly. Have planned next week's meals (broccoli mornay, veg mince and leek shepherd's pie, caramelised onion and feta tarts, veg curry, cheesy leek and potato bake, creamy mushroom stroganoff, dill stew with mash, cheesy aubergine bake) and will shop locally tonight with my trusted wally-trolley (I don't drive).
DH is out at a conference tomorrow so I get the day to myself; I have to be in to await a collection between 12 and 5, so I'm planning to do some batch cooking: pasta sauces and soup. I'm also going to clear out both freezers and all cupboards and list what I have and what needs using up.
Have a good day, everyoneNelly's other Mr. Hyde0 -
Morning all
AMIE399 - Happy Birthday to your Mum, hope you all have a lovely day
Penny-Pincher!! - Glad to hear your nearly finished with the essay, just one more final push and you can have the weekend to relax
mioliere - I'm exactly the same with meal planning, but I did find that when I did it, it really did cut down the shopping. I use a simple excel spreadsheet just split into columns of day, breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks but I was also doing slimming world at the time so I felt this really helped as I also had a row for any syns used.
Well I was up early again still having some problems sleeping. Nothing really planned for the weekend apart from clearing out the spare bedroom (and I mean it this time).
Oh, can anyone give me any ideas on how to use lemon thyme as our plant has gone into overdrive and I'm not sure what I can do with it
Hope everyone else is keeping OK and you all have a great bank holiday weekend.
As always take or leave the :grouphug: as neededYou laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same0 -
Morning all
Amie - Happy birthday to your mum!
Penny Pincher - You could add lots of ands, perhaps, fantastically etc to the essay that was always my trick
Just a quick hello because woke up early and came down to do packed lunch for OH and a bit of tidying and am now going to go back to bed with a cup of tea
FIL and nephew (he is baby sitting and doesn't know what to do with the LO!)popping over later. No cooking as have a hen dinner tonight and OH has the stag do to go to aswell. More decluttering is the order of the day!
Hope everyone has a great friday. Hugs x0 -
Good morning everyone,
Aime - hope your mum has a lovely day xx
PP - hope you will be feeling better later.
((HUGS)) to anyone else who needs/wants one.
Well, went to bed at 10.30 last night and DS was still awake - he had a headache on Sunday night, and then the day off school on Monday, due to him being tierd and headachy (this happens every couple of months, he gets a headache because he is so tierd). We've now had 3 nights were he wont sleep - because the headache has now gone - so he is now grounded again, DD was in my bed when i went to bed, she hasnt got in with me for a while, i had hoped we had stopped it, but never mind, will have a chat with her later, see if anything is worrying her. I can hear DS moving around upstairs now, so even less sleep for him, so he will be pleasant later!!!!
Have 3 LOs here today, so will be busy. One is extra (my friends LO) as her other son is in hospital, where they are thinking of taking his apendix out today, i hope they do it, poor little lad has been in so much pain, but they will only do it if they think it will burst and not just be grumbling.
Also need to clean the living room, but kitchen and bathroom will only need a swish today. Ive also got into doing some gardening, and my friend who has moved to Oz, her husband popped round last night (he goes on the 20th June wioth her eldest daughter after her GCSEs) has offered me their garden furniture (was just about to go and buy some, so very good news, they arnt allowed to take any garden stuff to Oz, which is strange as they have all the nasty creapy crawlies there, not us!!!) and also some advice on my garden, so this wekend (or today, see what the LOs are like) i will be moving some bushes around, should make everything look really nice, and also give me more room to plant some veg!!!!
Right, DS is in the kitchen, better go and see him.
Have a lovely day everyone,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Oh - also having my first ever Tesco delivery today - never had one before so im quite excited, i had to pay delivery (£5.99!!!) but i have £15 off, so will be getting £9 off my order, which is great!!! and i dont have to push through the crowds at the weekend now (although will miss looking for reduced stuff tho)0 -
Thanks, TinkerbellUK - having read your post I think I will do a spreadsheet. With the lemon thyme, you could try hanging it up in bunches to dry which will make eveything look and smell nice; then, when it's dried, store it in the freezer or make up some little muslin bags, fill them with dried thyme and put them in wardrobes, the airing cupboard etc., and hang one under the bath tap! Put little sprigs of it in ice-cubes - fiddly, I know, but very impressive when you have guests! You could also use it as a base for natural pot-pourri. Last week, I turned out my kitchen cupboards and found some out-of-date herbs and spices (some were so out-of-date I was ashamed!) - I mixed them all up and put them into little dishes with some bicarb and they are making perfect room-fresheners - you could add dried lemon thyme or any other herb that has outgrown its welcome in the garden. You could also use to it to make your own stuffing!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

PennyPincher, sorry you're not feeling well today, hope you feel better soon.
Cloudy here today and its funny how much better you feel when the sun is shining, hopefully it will be back soon.
Had a massive row with someone yesterday, he was really rude, I just wish I had put the phone down on him - why do you always think of the clever answers afterwards
Bit of shopping today, and a mixed grill for tea.
Hope everyone has a good day and :grouphug: to anyone needing one xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
