    Hi there

I was wondering if I can claim for unfair charges on credit cards whihc have been canceled in the past, also how do i go about getting the account number? Do i just ring customer services and go through security questions and request my account number

I would write . I have never had much look with phoning any of the institutions I doubt if they would give you the info even of they knew - Data protection Just remember how many times they want to know mother's maiden name . significant place . colour of your underpants
I wrote to 3 closed accounts RBS and NAt West credit cards Name DoB , place of birth , addresses , several if you moved None of my details had changed since I had the CC Both wrote back with 'was I sure I was with them -no record 'I think that this was stalling. In this day of electronic surveiilance it is ridiculous to think they cant get the info They'd find it pretty quick if you still owed them. I replied Yes , firm , no change Want my records .Got them both and now started a claim Providian /now Monument were very slow and late but got there in the end after threatening the Info Comm

    Hi all

Apologies if this is covered anywhere else - cannot seem to find any info on it?!

HSBC closed my account ages ago because I defaulted on a loan with them. This has since been paid and shows on my credit file as satisfied.

So - I sent them a letter and £10 cheque asking for copy statements within 40 days - no response. I sent them another letter (with copies of the original letter) giving them another 7 days - still no response

I have (last week) completed the form in respect of breach of DPA and sent that to the commissioner person, along with copies of everything sent to HSBC

    My question: What happens now??

    Thank you!

Is it possible to reclaim charges on a closed bank account? I had a Bank Of Scotland Account which I closed about 1 year ago, and I recall having a number of charges on that account. Can I still claim them back?

I am currently going through all of my various bank (credit card) statements, and finding the ones with late payment charges. (I kept them from 10 years ago in an archive file,) to the present. My HSBC credit card, I closed it down after paying it all back, but will I still be able to send them the statements where i was charged late payment fees and get it back even though I shut that account already? I know I can only go back six years.

As you already have the statements you can go straight to asking for your charges back, template letter here...

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/bank-charges#step3

Don't send them your statements, go through your statements and use the Interest Calculator in Martin's article above to produce a list of your charges and send that to the bank with your letter. Just change the template slightly to ask for late payment fees and/or over limit fees.

You'll find lots of useful information in the Reclaim Help Thread which is linked in my signature.
