I'm looking forward to buying my first greenhouse but I'm a complete novice. Have decided on a Palram after much browsing, just wanted to know if anyone has one are they any good or any other suggestions?
It must be 6x4 due to space restrictions and polycarbonate cos of the kids. I decided on the one with 4mm polycarbonate. Any thoughts?
Also I've seen it for £212 inc delivery, seems reasonable- Make 2023 in 2023 # £00/2023

I was looking at a 5x4 due to lack of space and then bought an 8x6 and made it fit
That's a good price if it includes a base if not then add £40 and look at the gardman

that said this may be a better bargain for the size you are looking for as it includes staging http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7050785/Trail/C%24cip%3D1500006333.Garden%2C%2BDIY%2Band%2Bleisure%3EC%24cip%3D1500006434.Sheds%2Band%2Bgarden%2Bbuildings%3EC%24cip%3D1500006439.Greenhouses.htm
and while i think of it argos also have a sale on their staging. £14.99 for two is pretty good.

thanks for the info we are coming around to the idea of a 6x6 or even 6x8, got to work out now how to site it as already had slabs down which measure 6x4 and have no more. Can you put them straight onto grass?

Yes you can but i would anchor the thing down with the base rods supplied set into concrete. i.e. dig a hole put in a rod then pack down with postcrete or similar at each corner and along each side.0 -
Just don't touch gardenbuildingsdirect as they are owned by Kybotech! I had an horrendous time trying to get my money back off them a few months ago when my greenhouse failed to materialise on a next day delivery. I was fobbed off with all manner of excuses and it took weeks to sort out.
I've also got the Gardman 8x6 and finally got around to building the frame yesterday having put down the base several months ago  You can put it straight on the ground but you need to make sure it's level all round first.
Alan, you might be able to answer this for me ... I'm pretty sure when I built the base that there was a pack of of some sort of metal braces or clips that bolt the frame to the brace. Obviously I can't find them now, or even remember what they look like, and wonder whether I'm imagining they ever existed!
Can you tell me how your frame is anchored to the base please as I daren't go aheard with the glazing until I can secure it as i don't want it to end up down the street on a windy day!
PS I bought mine from here in the end http://www.summergardenbuildings.co.uk/ and he also has a shop on Ebay. Great bloke to deal with and he even put my order through to take advantage of a special offer but delayed delivery until I gave him the ok to process payment once I'd received the refund from Kybotech. Wish I'd bought from him in the first place!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Sorry to hear you had problems with that company. Might be worth letting the OP know where you got your Gardman from - after some digging i found out mine was from simplygreenhouses. Anyway, yes you should have received some clips. They are shaped like a "J" are about 2" long with a hole in the top. They bolt to the frame at the top and the loop of the J at the bottom goes under the lip of the frame. The base is then secured into the ground with rods about 8" long. I cemented these in spots as mentioned above.0 -

Just had a quick look some good prices at that supplier - to the OP well worth a look !0 -
Thanks Alan, I do remember what they look like now but I still don't have a clue where I've put them. They'll no doubt be in one of those really safe places that means they'll never see the light of day again
Just thinking, but I don't think there are any spare holes on the base of the frame to bolt it down anyway, and I don't recall having any bolts either, just the clips themselves“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
