Needs to be approved by European Parliament still and can be vetoed by any of the 27 EU member states. So Cameron gets (no apostrophe) nothing yet.
Well let's hope they vote it down, by god, Cameron can't be seen to have cracked this nut.
Are people seriously looking for any morsal of hope that he may fail? Still?0 -

That's not the point - we should be able to see how they vote, especially if all their other votes aren't secret ballots. Frankly I don't see why MEPs should get a vote on the EU budget at all but there you go.0 -

Seems straightforward enough.
Those countries that benefit - No
Those countries that pay - Yes

Happy to be shot down but in the scheme of things are the savings that massive? This is a budget for 7 years, split between member states, I appreciate the burden is greater for the few.
Our contributions are still going up just not so fast.
Anything is better than nothing and for that we should be grateful I suppose (meant nicely)."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Would the MEPs in the countries that pay actually vote in support of their country even then?"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Well done Cameron for sticking in there. Will Milliand now apologise considering he stated in no untoward terms, he simply would not get this and made a party political point about it?
Pointless thread started by someone who complains about others starting such threads....so much hypocrisy0 -

This is not just a commercial/trade project. It is a political, social project...until you see that you will not get it. Unlike the pervading view in the UK many on the continent are wanting to move towards greater integration/political union. The countries in eastern Europe want infra structure investment to improve their standard of living. We and the rest of Western Europe...especially the Germans are expected to pay for it....the pay off is greater political stability in the long term...in the balkans etc. Too many on this site see the world through the prism of a financial adviser...thank god we are not all like that!;)0 -
Is this an objective analysis or more accurately a belief that whatever Posh boy did or didn't do would be hailed as a success by you because you are a right wing tory type;)

LOL. Bitter at a success story.
You remind me of that old Militant Tendency lot that used to work against 'right wing' Labour Governments in an attempt to prove that only their brand of Socialism worked. Anything bad news is good, right comrade?0 -

It kinda puts the lie to the idea that only by kowtowing to France can the UK hope to influence things.
You have more chance of seeing Milliband tap dancing naked down the street than apologising for getting it wrong again. It's interesting to see that Milliband has fully accepted culpability for the NHS scandal however. Vote Labour for your Granny to starve to death in hospital. That's quite catchy.
Like it or not, the EU needs the UK (and France and Germany) as much as the UK needs the EU.0
