Nearly £100bn less than proposed.
Well done Cameron for sticking in there. Will Milliand now apologise considering he stated in no untoward terms, he simply would not get this and made a party political point about it?EU leaders have reached an agreement on the budget for 2014-20 after marathon talks in Brussels.
The deal was announced by European Council President Herman van Rompuy, who said it was "worth waiting for".
The new budget amounts to 908bn euros in forecast payments. It is the first-ever reduction in the EU's multi-annual budget.
UK Prime Minister David Cameron - who had been pressing for cuts - hailed it as a "good deal for Britain".

The saving for UK under the proposed €908.4bn payment ceiling figure is 3.7pc a year gain. But Britain may end up paying more.
The reduced payments figure is a ceiling or cap, and historically, to date so far, the real spending and national contributions are a 5 to 10pc margin below it.
But officials warn that the proposed ceiling is now set so low the actual spend will bump up against it, hitting the 5-10pc margin.
If the margin between the payment ceiling and actual spend is wiped out then it is possible for UK's cash contribution to actually increase by between 1.3 to 6.3pc.

Maybe not such great news after all, but I'm sure that Call Me Dave will triumphantly claim victory."When the people fear the government there is tyranny, when the government fears the people there is liberty." - Thomas Jefferson0 -
Needs to be approved by European Parliament still and can be vetoed by any of the 27 EU member states. So Cameron gets (no apostrophe) nothing yet.0

The leader of the Conservative group of MEPs has just said on Radio 5 that he expects it to be defeated in the European Parliament - apparently the Parliament has already agreed that the vote will be secret to avoid MEPs coming under pressure from their constituents and national governments....0 -

Secret voting to prevent MEPs beig held to account by the people they represent. That's an excellent justification!0 -

Another reason to lease the EU. What a terribly democratic institution.
France has, yet again vetoed any change to CAP. Another display of a prehistoric economic model.0 -

Dogs don't foul their own beds. As Mark Reckless said on 5L why would they vote to cut off their own funding? Then he did say he would vote out of Europe on TV too."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Support from the German's though. Merkel is aware of her public support as well. Election in September. So Cameron has picked the right moment to attack.0
