As a police officer if I had to respond to an incident like this my first question to the O/P would be 'why do you keep parking in the same place if you know it annoys the home owner so much?' I know its the public highway and that you have a right to park there but equally common sense suggests that as you are aware that the family is being wound up by you parking there, then you could alleviate the problem by varying the places you park. Have you thought that there might be a good reason why the family gets wound up by people parking outside their house whatever the legal situation? Hopefully words of advice to both parties would suffice because the only way that I would arrest/report/ticket the homeowner for section 5 would be if he or she had a long history of anti social behaviour or public order offences.

Shocking response to a clear right/wrong situation imo.

Ye, who needs to deal with the root cause when we can just deal with the symptoms. Only problem being when the next person to be subjected to his intimidation goes to the police and asks for help... so how many people do we turn over before we say 'wait, they have done nothing wrong. Lets deal with the culprit'.

Keep parking there op... just to p him off :D
Maybe give him a wave and smile when you leave and arrive.
If he shouts pretend he isn't there.

As somebody that drives past a school every single morning at 'drop off time' to ge tto my place of work, I'm not surprised he's already annoyed.

The amount of people who park up illigally and think it's ok to because they are dropping off their offspring increase each year. Even if a policeman is nearby, they still do it!

Then you have the people who just pull out without even looking because they ARE DROPPING OFF THEIR CHILDREN FOR EDUCATION!

    :rotfl:

Just park somewhere else. I understand that you might not be doing anything illigal, but its obviously distressing people who live by the school. You have a car with wheels that you could park elsewhere. They have a house, it ain't gonna be moving anytime soon!

Did you not read op post where there aren't many spaces around. There is nothing wrong with him legally using space in a public road.

No I don't think Ado is suggesting that the police would side with the harrasser. what he/she is saying that the police would look for an easy solution to the problem as well as warning the harrassers about their behaviour. After all, if there is another place OP can conveniently park, why shouldn't she if it makes this situation go away?

That is pretty much what I meant.

Ado, Maybe I am wrong but would the op just parking elsewhere at the police's suggestion not just let the harasser know that he can continue to do this to anyone that parks there and just get a ticking off while the problem (from the harassers point of view, probably temporarily) is alleviated. Or do you think that a word from a police officer carries some clout these days ?

This is somewhat like people who buy homes next to rivers and then moan when they get flooded out.............

Buy a home next to a school, you should expect parking issues.

These people the OP has problems with are clearly idiots.

Have you read / remembered the post from OP . They park legally on a road without restrictions . Ado as a bobby i would rather you told the homeowner that there was nothing you could do as no offence has been commited and to get a life . The homeowner seems to want the op to park elsewhere .anywhere so long as its not outside his but madness says outside anyone elses . I used to live in a town right next to the shops and shop workers parked there from 8 till 5 then us homeowners used to battle as we came home from work from 5 till 6 . Always a battle never a war .

It sounds to me like the house the OP parks outside is inhabited by some t*ssers with the 'Englishman's home is his castle' mentality.

It drives me mad how people who own a two-up, two-down (or similar) suddenly think they're lord of the manor, and no one is allowed to park near their house, or even their wheelie-bin!
And that my son, is how to waft a towel!

Pot and kettle come to mind, you will be employing one of those companys you hate next to do it for you

If the car is parked legally there shouldnt be any issues

To be fair, someone else comes around afterwards with preprinted leaflets advising the car owner to ignore the letters

I would be grateful for some serious advice please as this i fear this will get out of hand.

I dont want to get the police involved is there anything else i can do?

If that is still the case, the only thing you can do is park somewhere else.
