Can you quote the exact bit of the legislation that states this?

The EXACT legislation is NOT the SOGA, so i will change that, however its under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.

From the Office of Fair Tradings Guidelines for motor traders,

    http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/reports/676408/OFT1152con.pdf

Its an offence under Regulation 6 (Misleading Omissions) of the Consumer Protection law to mislead consumers by failing to give them the information they need in order to make an informed purchasing decision before the sale

    Examples:

    • Failing to disclose that a vehicle for sale is an ex-rental vehicle which may have had a number of drivers/users - it is not sufficient to only inform the consumer of the mileage and the number of previous owners.

I've got a corsa as a courtesy car at the moment I'm glad I've never bought one as a normal car I could run faster than this one lol.

I quite like the new corsa's I had to hire a care last year for a couple of weeks and managed to get a 1.4 corsa and it was fast as hell..... and decent spec (well for a Vauxhall), would seriously consider one for our next replacement car (found out afterwards it even had cruise control - which would have been handy as I was doing daily trips back and forth to Blackpool for the two weeks I had it.....

Yeah, but im afraid I had more important things on my mind (my 83 year old dad had 3 heart attacks and was rushed to Blackpool for a double bypass), so my mind wasn't really thinking about the features of the car - I didn't think "oh, give me a min il read all the manual for the hire car I have just hired and see what features it has!!!!)....

It was only when I took it back and was talking to the guy from Enterprise that he was saying it was a great spec car and that it had cruise control.....

Ive heard the 1.2's are a bit gutless - never driven one.... but the 1.4 was a great little car.

Heck, I have hired numerous cars and some I can't be bothered to work out how to retune the radio... let alone work out how to use the cruise control. My OH's Honda has cruise control she has NEVER used.

Cruise control isn't the safest thing until you are familiar with it as it works differently in different cars. Its a distraction you can do without....

In the case of mwbrown .... I doubt I would have even bothered playing with the radio! As an aside, when my kid was in intensive care I managed to back into a wall parking at the hospital.... despite 20 odd years with no accidents this distracted me enough.... no damage except needed to replace the rear light cluster .... but .... glad it wasn't a hire car with no CDW!

Luckily Steve, I didn't do any damage to the car - we had no option but to hire a car for the 2 weeks - my wife works full time and from memory I think I made 21 trips to and from Blackpool in the 14 day period. The only thing that concerned me was my Dad was going to be ok...... it wouldn't have bothered if all they had was a 3 wheel robin reliant to hire me... I needed a car... simple as that...
  • Sorry for the lack of update, Still not got my car back but I'll be ringing the garage tomorrow to see what's going on :)
