That is the sales persons job!
If she or he doesn't now then they are not fit to sell used cars.
I can't see what gender has to do with any of this... just because you're female you are not expected by law to exert a difference due diligence to a male buying a car ....
Equally, neither is the saleperson.
By law the sales person is mean't to understand used cars and thir ins and outs professionally
The real point is that the ex-hire status is relevant information that should have been disclosed to you by a dealers sales-person and they should have known and pointed out the ex-hire status.
What you have written seems to say you expect a female salesperson to require a lower level of competence ? (as her male colleagues will support her?):rotfl:0 -

I will be totally honest with you all, she wasn't exactly the sharpest knife in the draw I should of known better
I think after this I might have become a expert on cars, But it doesn't mean I'm going to get underneath one why buying it lol.

The correct phrasing is "should have", and actually, nobody has to tell you how many drivers a car has had, and your figure of 700 is way out IMO.
Stop being such a drama queen!
My current 12 year old Mondeo was an ex BT pool car, and I have done over 120K miles in it.0 -

Than you realise WHY she was there!
Several of my local garages offer 'female friendly'.... they will have a woman not intimidate the customer I think it means....
When checking prices for a recent clutch change they were in every case a LOT more expensive than anyone EXCEPT the main Honda Dealer....
(I'm a bloke but its my OH's car and I did the phoning)I think after this I might have become a expert on cars, But it doesn't mean I'm going to get underneath one why buying it lol.
She was blonde.....
When required she would be the first under the car... and knows FAR more than I ever will.... but of she can save money she will be blonde.
In one mode... she will intimidate the sales person with her far superior knowledge .... in the other they will end up giving her a deal because she's a vulnerable female....
Much as I appreciate this .... it was annoying/frustrating when she tried the second mode on me!0 -

That's your opinion even the area manager from Arnold Clark has agreed with me that I should of been told. It's all about opinions at the end of the day.
Thank you for your input.0 -

According to the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, it is an offence to NOT disclose that it is an ex hire car.0 -
What is the problem with an ex hire or fleet car?
They tend to be better looked after than private owned vehicles as the driver does not have to pay.0 -

Personally for me it wouldnt have been BUT for some people it is.
I remember one guy on a forum saying he had bought an ex-demonstrator and the sales manager had told him that the car had only been lent out to discerning high net worth prospective customers whom he knew personally..
.. so this is how the guy thought it had been treated...
whereas the reality was probably more like this...0 -
I haven't read all 7 pages of this but on page 1 people say to view the V5 first. I always ask this but on a couple of occasions a dealer has said we can't show you that because of data protection. No idea if it's true or not but most dealers are ok to show it to you so I've always walked away if they fail to produce it.0
