Every parent is different, I have a friend now that puts her 2 month baby upstairs to sleep, upstairs on it's own(like the baby is going to do anything) but I had the baby with me wherever I was, so my friend putting her baby upstairs is alien to me, even if I went out of the room I took the baby with me.... so it is either me totally mad or her:rotfl::rotfl:0

First baby= Baby-led care, i.e attending to every cry and whimper.
Second baby= A little more "Gina Ford" i.e. letting the kid cry for a few minutes knowing full well he isn't going to starve/die of a wet bottom/suffer lasting emotional damage from neglect.
Third baby= Full on "Gina Ford" i.e. shutting the little darling in the garden, along with the other kids, just for a bit of peace and quiet."I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -

Yeah but my babies slept next to my bed for the first 12 months. They slept in a crib in the living room during the day. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Mine did too, though for around 9 months, but that was because I wanted to distinguish between a daytime nap and a night-time sleep so daytimes were light, with noise in the background and downstairs and bedtime was dark with curtains closed, quiet and upstairs, rather than I thought something was 'wrong' with putting a baby upstairs for a nap at 2pm rather than at 7pm. Baby went to bed before we did anyway, so was still upstairs alone till we came up.Yeah but my babies slept next to my bed for the first 12 months. I post on a few forums regarding hobbies I have but no others like this. I even ran a fairly successful forum at one point.
I'm financially stable so don't post for the money aspect, I post because I enjoy the topics people post and it increases my knowledge on consumer rights. There are a lot of topics (and boards for that matter) I don't read but it's such a vast forum that it still keeps me busy.0 -
I started over on the Disability and Dosh board, as I have a disabled son. I can't remember what I posted, but I had previously posted on TES forums as I was studying for a degree in education.
I did, very tentatively, move over to other boards, as life is about more than my child's needs. Overall, I have found most posters friendly, but there are a few I would prefer to avoid. I don't use the ignore button because presumably a thread would no longer make sense if they are posting regularly on it.
More importantly than the odd few that I'm not keen on, I do have some favourite posters. It can be something of a surprise when you suddenly discover that they are male not female (or vice versa), or that they belong to a different age group than you imagined :rotfl:. I'm sure that if I met them in real life, they wouldn't be how I imagined
I think the worst times on MSE are when the kids are off school and you get teenage trolls. On the whole, though, it is a good place to be. MSE forums have certyainly helped me out and kept me company when I've needed it

thanks, thats what I was alluding to in my other post, my baby slept in a crib next to my bed too at 2 months, but at bedtime once she was settled I didn't stay in the bedroom with her, she was alone until I went to bed.0
