How's the training going Pen-Pen? The forecasters have said it will get brighter later here, but maybe only around teatime.
Training's going well, thanks  Just did 25mins running, which for about 4km, is on track. Good runners won't think this is much, but I'm not a natural runner, and my personal challenge is to do the R4L without stopping. Now having a cup of fruit tea, to rehydrate.
I understand about your dad - similar thing happened to my grandparents, it wasn't pleasant. ((((Hugs)))) to you both. Enjoy your weekend away.
Haribo, will PM you about my hens
Welcome to Trigger and Night Owl (how many Owls do we have now
Possibly as many as the PPs we have
)
Csarina, sorry about your news.

That sort of meal is so much easier in the winter with stews/soups/casseroles etc. I’m thinking some sort of salad, but I’m seriously lacking in inspiration this morning….if anyone has any suggestions they’d be very welcome.
Hi, Pink! Thursday is my *hectic* day, too. Everyone has something on, so we eat when we can. Last week I made quiche (one cherry tomato, spinach and feta, and one bacon and cheese) which people had with baked potato, bread, salad or veg as they chose. Was a hit, so I'm doing the same today - smoked salmon from the freezer.
Edit - just remembered - I'm out for a meal tonight with the choir, so will have quiche for tomorrow's lunch, and freeze the rest for DD's lunch box.

Morning :hello:
((((hugs)))) to Crazychik and csarina
Am super busy at work so not on here for long. I've already wasted a bit of time placing a Tesco wine order - some things I like are on special at the moment, and I had a voucher for 1000 extra points, and one of the items has been out of stock for the last couple of days and is now back, so I wanted to grab it while I could. It didn't help that the website froze while authorising my card. I had to call tech support to cancel the transaction and put it through manually
Lunch: bacon and sweetcorn chowder. Tea: don't know. I may or may not be out for the evening - there's an annual event on tonight which I go to every year, but I haven't yet booked for it. It won't be very expensive, and shouldn't be sold out, but it depends on how much work I get done today and how much energy I have left at the end of it!
Also need to post housewarming card to my mum who moved on Monday.
Right, must dash...
Rzl xx

Morning everyone!
<donny gal> Sorry to hear about the state of your father. I guess the only consolation is that he is completely unaware of what is happening to him..I can't imagine how intolerable it would be if he was still on the ball and his body was letting him down.
<CrazyChik> Any chance you could take your exOH to the hospital? He may come to regret his weakness if he misses the chance to say goodbye, and I know from your earlier posts that you are close to his dad so would be an opportunity for you to see him.
<csarina> Thinking of you.
Welcome to Nightowl, welcome back trigger2 and dogrose
mrs-mix Any news on the broken mirror? What happened, sounds very mysterious.
And I have some spare hugs here for anyone who is feeling under the weather, tired, cross, or just who would just like one. They are in the bag under the chair, please help yourselves.
Yesterday I decided to finally start work on dismantling our "concretery". Some years ago we spend a few days removing ivy from what we thought was a rockery to discover it was concrete. Yuk. We let the ivy grow back and agreed that we would get roundtuit at some point. Yesterday was the point.
So, I've cleared a load of ivy, we cut down a large, moth eaten, fir tree, cut it up and took it to the tip. and I started to clear the mountain of fir tree debris. I also started to take out the concrete "stones" as I uncovered them. Actually, just taking the tree down has made a huge difference, but the concretery has to go. I'll probably replace it with a raised flower bed of some sort.
It's really heavy work though, so I'm only going to do a couple of hours each day. Spect it will be finished by Christmas (half joke).
Did my hand washing this morning, will tidy kitchen in a mo including sweeping the floor. Our white cat is moulting and everywhere I look I see those little tumbleweeds of hair. I use a special vileda broom, the spongey one, which is the best so far at being able to deal with pet hair, but it isn't perfect.
Am expecting a parcel from New Zealand today. While we were out there we visited a charming couple who make kaleidescopes - ones with special lenses, so they make a kaleidescope of whatever you are looking at, rather than having stuff in the bottom IYSWIM. We bought a hand held one the first time we were there and this time, we ordered a special one: it's huge and is designed for siting in the garden. This means our pond, the flowers, everything can be kaleidescoped. They despatched it nearly a month ago, and it's been held up in customs whilst HMRC decide what duty should be paid. Winced when we finally got the notification, as they also charged VAT of course. Still, never mind. It will be worth every penny.
Dinner tonight will be salad for me and liver and bacon for DH. He'll have to cook it though as I can't bear even the smell of liver, ever since being forced to eat it at school. I have tried it again since then (in the last year I have been making myself re-try all the foods I believe I dislike - repeatedly in some cases - with some success) but the liver made me heave, I couldn't even swallow it. Sorry to those who are eating while they read this.
If the weather warms up I'll spend another hour or two at the concretery face. If it doesn't, I'll attempt to take yesterday's output to the local tip. Should be interesting as they classify soil and rubble as commercial waste so may turn me away. I'm hoping that if I take a little at a time, also take some acceptable rubbish, and swap cars, they may not notice.
Have a lovely day everyone, I'll pop back later to see how you're all doing.
xxx

Morning everyone!:j
Hectic day as usual yesterday and went out to work at 7 this morning so have just sat down to catch up! Have skimmed through yesterday and today so far so apologies if I've missed anything important.
Pen-Pen - Sounds like you're doing great with the running. The first time I ever did the RFL it took me nearly an hour! That was before I trained as a personal trainer!!;) When is your race? Let me know if you would like to increase your speed, I can PM you some training runs that would help (if there's time of course, and if you want to!). I wish I had some chicks to hatch, we used to do it every year when I was at school and I always used to beg my mum for hens. We don't have the space now or I have loads! We've also got two yorkshire terriers - how are chickens at defending themselves against little yappy dogs I wonder?
Welcome :hello: to Trigger and Night Owl

Smoky - glad your LO is on the mend
Sorry, I'm terrible with names and can't remember who Harry's owner is - how's he getting on? Best wishes to him and all other furry (or feathered, or scaley!) friends who aren't well.
I'm gong to spend the next couple of hours sorting out my finaces for the month which is guarenteed to put me in a bad mood  , I did enjoy my jewellery making course last night though and can see that all my female friends and relatives will be getting handmade jewellery for Christmas which should save me a fortune!!:T
Hope everyone has a good day! No sunshine here, nevermind, I won't get outside today anyway

Queenie - I'm interested in the HM Laundry powder but have a few questions. Are the ingredients easy to get hold of? I've never heard of any of them (sorry for being thick!) Is the soap just like normal soap you would use to wash your hands and can washing soda and borax be bought at the supermarket? Also, do you think it would be ok for someone with sensitive skin? Sorry for all the question! I like to limit my chemical use in the household as much as possible and have bought a fantastic laundry ball which can be used again and again with no powder - I do feel that my OH's work clothes and my sweaty gym kit needs something a bit more though!

Morning All
(((hugs))) to Mrs Mix and Csarina and anyone else who needs them.
Welcome to Trigger 2 and Night-Owl.
Apologies but the thanks button isnt working for me today.
Its overcast and freexing here in Essex, luckily cant do any washing as the builder has the water turned off. Did me a favour as he forgot to fill the kettle before so I havnt got to make loads of coffee at the moment.
Have done half my horrible filing job this am and not going to start again now as am going out for lunch with 2 friends and am being picked up at 12. So think will kill a hour on here (shouldnt be too much of a hardship). We are eating at a local pub who normally have a huge log fire - hope its lit today - I cant get warm.
So no housework will be done today here, builder is in again tomorrow. Means that Saturday will be spent cleaning up but at least its a long weekend.
Going to go and have a good mooch round MSE now - have a great day.
L - lovely pub sandwhich with crisps and everything (s*d the diet)
D - hm curry with leftover chicken, rice and onion bhajees (cheap from Asda)0 -
