Daily thread 03/05/2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday, 3rd May 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
everyone, the weather is looking good again today.
Just grabbing a coffee before getting a move on before work. LO is starting to improve slowly and has slept last night for longer periods, the night before was bad as he was very uncomfortable and only wanted to be held so not much sleep has been had really. At least he is drinking a little better but still not eating. He has visibly lost weight but I am sure that will soon be regained when he is over this.
Today the plan is the usual top to toe with the hoover, the tiles in the kitchen need a wipe down, swipe round the rest of the kitchen and also the bathroom, and sort out the freezers. I am off tomorrow and should be able to defrost the first one as I have run them down ready.
Dinner will be tomato soup, tea tonight some cod from the freezer, mash,broccoli, and cauliflower cheese. (boiled spuds and no sauce for me).
Penny- Pincher, I was upset for you when I read your post yesterday, this thread would be sterile and probably not exist if all we could talk about was OS and not talk about our days in the fullest sense of the word, and this obviously (to my mind) includes our and our families health and problems and on the other end of the coin the good things that happen to us too. The support here is incredible, so I hope to keep hearing how you are doing as I genuinely am interested and care.
to all in need today. AMIE, where are you? I hope all is OK.
See you later,
Smoky. xxxx

Morning Smokey and all who follow
had a reasonable night so not too bad
the clutch went on dh lorry yesterday so we find out today how much for a new one it's something that has to be done as no lorry means no work or money
ds2 has the hospital this morning for a check up on his arm
the tiger roll's I made yesterday were fab not quite the same as asda but good all the same I adapted a recipie from a link Ithink was from Kethry
2 tsp sugar
1 1/2 tbsp yeast
1/3 cup rice flour
3 tsp sesame oil
1/3 cup warm water
mix this together in a bowl 40 mins before dough is ready (it will rise quite a lot) when dough is done shape into rolls paint this thick gooey mix on top and leave to rise and then cook in the normal way
got to do packed lunches soon and put the washing on the line that was done last night
:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: to all

Good morning Smoky and all who follow. So glad LO is starting to get better - it's been a long time, hasn't it? I wouldn't worry about him not eating very much, the most important thing is he takes in fluids, so it is good that he is drinking a little more. He'll soon get his appetite back and then you won't be able to keep up with him!:T :T
GD coming for a couple of hours this morning - the weather looks good again so we may go to the park after I've been to the P.O. to post a birthday present. Then I have to list some things on eBay and a couple more books on Amazon. Dinner - DS2 and his GF coming round - will be Lemon Chicken so I can prep most of that beforehand. Still have some ironing left to do and, even though I thought I'd cleared most of the paperwork last week, the pile seems just as big again. I'm thinking of sealing up the letterbox so the postman can't push any more through it! Years ago, on an episode of Life Laundry, the super-efficient presenter said you only need to deal with a piece of paper once, then you can put it away forever. Well, she lied, didn't she? Every time I think I've dealt with something it comes back to haunt me!:mad: :mad:
Anyway, must go and get DH up - he's had his cuppa and has gone back to sleep again, I expect!
Have a great morning, everyone - will catch up later!:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Mrs Mix - just read your post - thanks for the recipe! Will try that at the weekend!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

morning all. i've been up for over an hour but i wasn't sure how to start this thread & copy the old extracts :doh: I haven't read the daily threads for a while so i apologise for not being up to speed with everyone's news, but i hope you're all doing ok. hugs to anyone feeling poorly or having a rough time just now. :grouphug: Even tho its my day off today (i work in a playgroup) i'm off to look at some new equipment this morning with DS (should be fun) then a list as long as my arm - bank, library, sorting DD's things for brownie camp & their visit to MILS (wonders never cease !), some college homework, ironing, then back to work to help them this afternoon as they're short staffed ! so a restful day off then
have a good day all

Morning all
I don't know if it's the weather or things on my mind but I'm having real problems sleeping lately
Anyway nothing much planned for today except w**k and then home to more studying this evening. Although I am going to make a big batch of leek and potatoe soup tonight as we have loads of both to use up. Was really good with the food shop last night and only managed to pick up stuff we know we're going to eat in the next couple of days. I was amazed when DH said it's much easier when we have a meal plan as we know what we're doing and what we need to getSo guess what we're doing this evening as well :rotfl:
Apart from that not much else to report. Hope everyone is OK and as always take or leave the :grouphug: as neededYou laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same0 -

Good morning everyone,
Feeling really tierd at the mo, so having a cuppa to see if that helps wake me up!!!
Friend has asked if i can look after her 7yo today, as he has a rumbling appendix (so stomach pain, but not catching) so ive said yes, but does end my run of walking to school!!! Never mind, i need to goto Waitrose and would need to drive there, so not too bad.
Apart from that, 2 LOs here (1 at nursery this morning tho) but as its another lovely day, im sure they would love to go outside and play - ive been given a little house, and also have a pop up tent, and they really loved it yesterday!!!
Still need to get on top of my cleaning, and need to do some baking, but i think i might do that tomorrow. Will be making a stew with Tuesdays left over pork, think it might be the last one until the winter now, as its getting a bit hot out there (lovely, im def not one who moans about the heat).
Right, off to get ready - hope everyone has a lovely day,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -

HM Laundry Powder
1 Cup Grated Fels Naptha Soap (<---- I'm going to be using some old soap ends which would normally be thrown away)
1/2 Cup Washing Soda
1/2 Cup Borax
For light loads, use 1 tablespoon. For heavy or heavily soiled loads, use 2 tablespoons.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My measuring cup is an old beaker and I shall be storing it in the old well known brand box
Have a basket of ironing to do and now I’ve learned that it counts towards pedometer steps, I shall enjoy it a bit more :laugh:
B: Weetabix
L: SoupSweet Jacket potato, stuffed with cottage cheese plus salad
Oh yes, don’t know if I mentioned it, but thanks for the clothing advice from the ladies on here I braved going into a local sports shop. which is closing down. and picked up some great bargains! I may not look a million dollars in them but it really makes a difference in attitude – tried them on and felt fitter immediately!
Have a good day one and all :wave:~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
