I think many claims of poor customer service are spurious but if they wouldn't sell me a particular brand of something for some reason and then refused to have someone bring an alternative to the checkout, then I think I would patiently let the sales assistant ring it all through. Then I would just leave it all on the check out and walk out.

Thats just childish. It won't bother the staff anyway, they would just think of you as an idiot. The cashier would just move it out the way or get someone to take it and carry on serving. You'd be more annoying the other customers with the time it takes to clear the till area.

Hi everyone,I work on a service department, although not checkouts and so deal with customers one to one,I would like to say I am always polite and curtious to whoever I serve and treat them how I would like to be treated.
In my shop on our department we are very understaffed and they will not employ anyone else(we mere mortals think so that higher managers can get their bonuses by spending less)this means that the people who are there are running round like headless chickens trying to get all the jobs done while ensuring the customers are served while our manager just swans round doing nothing:mad:

    sorry rant over

Sorry it just gets me,please understand that it is not necesarily the fault of the assistant on the shop floor but they are just doing as the are told by the higher managers who don't deal with customers and just sit in offices all day

this is so wrong its frightening!

sorry... but I worked in shops/supermarkets/restaurants WAY too long! and the amount of "right" customers that had a snidey pop at me could be counted on one hand.

We don't sell loose tomatoes any more so maybe it is a nationwide thing?

So much for reducing packaging. Last autumn they were selling fresh corn on the cob for 25p each - this came pre-wrapped in bio-degradable natural wrapping, provided by nature. After a couple of weeks they were selleng smaller cobs, minus the natural wrapping, on plastic trays and wrapped in plastic film - 2 cobs for £2 !!!
  • Fascinating, just fascinating.

so they wouldnt sell me the sugar puffs but they had no qualms yesterday in selling mr mob a joint of beef that was off and some chicken cubes that stank to high heaven.

couldnt take them back yesterday as they were closed by the time mr mob opened the beef to cook it upon the discovery ofthe stench he opened the chicken which was off too.
There's someone in my head, but it's not me

    OK,

The present Mrs. Major is a checkout assistant at Tesco and they are instructed that if an item does not scan (usually says not on file), then it can not be sold. Yes it is to save time but the real problem here is that some pen pushing lout in the back office just hasn't done their job right and not put the item on the computer system.

but talk about waste. She and other colleagues had to tip bottles and bottles of Cava down the drain because ... well I can't remeber but it was some silly reason.

This issue is specific to Sugar Puffs.

Hads the same problem in Asdas - and it took a few minutes to resolve - an alternative code had to be typed in by the checkout person.
