I think Alitalia should work hard to reroute all the passengers who are affected, not getting the passengers to call them, it is the attitude , do not even think about the time we spend and also the phone bills!!!!

I just put your costly no. into St Martin's Saynoto0870 and suugest you try one of the geographics. I've often found better help available this way, than when answered by robotic humanspeak.

  • If the airline is that intransigent then its off to court. The law is on the side of the passenger in this case.

Exactly, alitalia are trying to make it as difficult as possible with the hope that we will give up and accept the refund.

I totally agree, I just don't think it would be an easy/simple solution :)

Just been back on the phone, spoke to lady who told me that I could only be offered a refund as there's no availability on any flight from Rome to Beijing. It's going to be a long day.

Just keep plugging away. Keep pestering them. Whenever I've had to be rerouted, I've been told flat out 'No, we can't reroute you on another airline', 'there are no flights from that airport', 'there are no seats on that flight'.

    Eventually, they magically find availability.

Can you find availability with Air France or KLM on Expedia? If you can, point this out to them.

They will probably claim there is availability, but not in the correct booking class. At that point, you tell them, ever so politely, where they can stick their booking class.

Airlines mustn't be allowed to sell tickets on a route and then cancel the route on a whim. The more fuss we make over such cancellations, the less financially attractive it becomes to pull the route.

Theyre now telling me today that I have to wait until Wednesday. This is getting absolutely ridiculous, every time i ring im told conflicting information. Legally, within how many days do they have to sort this??

Its also apparently a policy that nobody can request to speak to a manager (!!)

Ah yes, just waiting for how many other air carriers declare bankrupcy in the next year having to pay all this compensation or buy flights with other carriers!

If the company declairs bankrupcy you'll be at the end of a long list for your money back. Make sure your fully insured before you go ie now.
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring
