Alitalia have cancelled my flights!

called them again, they said they will call me back in a couple of hours.0

yes , but they must have done some maths before they decided to cancel the flights, otherwise, they should just fly it if it would be cheaper option.
That's kind of my point
Alitalia have decided that, for whatever reason, they'd rather not operate that flight.
They people in suits with spreadsheets and calculators have decided it makes commercial sense to inconvenience passengers, and that the amount they will end up spending to appease and/ or reaccommodate those passengers is less than the loss they would lose from operating the flights.
The passengers job is to make damn sure s/he gets rebooked satisfactorily, regardless of the cost to the airline. The more it costs them to reaccommodate, the less likely they are to pull the same trick again.0 -
What if they just send back the payment back to your credit card without telling you?
Yeh, that is the only drawback with being passive about the situation, although it still would not remove their liability to reroute me as they would not have any admissible evidence that I had accepted a refund instead of a reroute. Perfect for small claims court.
And in fact I think (I need to check) that the card I bought the tickets on hasn't actually rolled over to another card number - it was reissued by the bank and completely changed VISA number...0 -
I received the same email re my Rome Beijing flight and then another one regarding my return - Beijing Rome London.
I thought it was a hoax and everytime I called Alitalia "Customer Service" and refused a refund, the phone was put down. Staff refused to give their names and it was extremely frustrating. It is not their problem but I have booked BA to get us to Rome, Rome hotels, China hotels, China tours, China visa etc etc. After many hours of getting nowhere I decided to post on the Alitalia Facebook open forum and suddenly I started to get somewhere.
I received calls back from Alitalia and they confirmed that I would be rerouted. I also received this in writing on FB. I was promised a call back within 48 hours on Saturday, mainly because they are trying to get codeshare agreements sorted with other airlines to substitute our flights.
Almost 72 hours later I have not received the 'promised' call, so have posted again on FB. I would urge anyone else to do the same as this will give them both hassle and bad rep as it is a public site.
Good luck all0 -
I don't understand why they tell us on facebook that we can be rerouted yet once you are on the phone they state you can only be refunded? It is beyond a joke.0

I have just sent an email to their customer service department. I've tried using the phone and facebook without any luck, let's see if I'll have more luck via email.0
