Like I just said, if I have offended her, then I apologise...... what more do you want?!

It doesn't really matter in the scheme of things, but for future reference apologies sound really insincere when they have the word 'if' in them!

How about Cambodia? Not as many Aussies there as Vietnam and the people are much friendlier. Your budget would go a very long way and you'd be able to stay in nice hotels.

I loved Korea and Japan, they're quite exotic with not many Brits but January would be a bit too cold.

    What about a Caribbean cruise.

You'd get a nice balcony cabin for a two week cruise for around 2k per person.

We didn't do Caribbean but did do our first ever cruise last year and if you want to see some great places and get pampered to bits and eat fantastic food then a criuse is the way to go. We went with Celebrity and would definitely go with them again

    Thank you Person_One.

FWIW GlamGirlie, saying "oh it's not special enough, we want somewhere really wonderful" IS dissing my suggestion because it is implicit in what you said that my suggestion (my own honeymoon destination) is NOT those things.

But no worries, I don't want to talk to you anyway, I want to talk to someone polite, with manners, who has some grace.

Hmmm, we went to Antarctica but I guess that wouldn't exactly fit your requirements:-)

If she hasn't been there I am not sure how she can say it isn't special enough. I have been to some of the places mentioned in the OP and they don't compare with Venice imo. It is a unique destination.

I think that sometimes we don't/can't see what is on our doorstep (relatively speaking) and we would rather seek a long haul destination.

I assumed that she had been there, but I was reeling from all the not special, get there on Easyjet, stuff so I might have got it wrong.

For me, Venice is one of the only places I've been that I would go back to again, for longer. In fact I'd live there if I could. It's amazing.
