I'm going to Venice in a couple of weeks for 3 nights this thread is making me excited!0

Mauritius, Jamaica, Namibia, South Africa, Seychelles, Anguilla, Martinique, Turks & Caicos or The Bahamas? Not sure if any of these are exotic enough, but not sure if you want hot and beachy or hot and adventurous? There is also Saba island which is not necessarily luxurious, but it's very hidden away (near St Maarten in the Caribbean)0

We are also looking for somewhere that is special, that we won't ever go to again. Venice is too close for that; we could pop over any time with Easy Jet or the like.
For a honeymoon it needs to be special, not just another holiday.
She said that Venice was not exotic and not special, then added it was "just another holiday".
I felt it was unecessary when I'd tried to answer her, and she didn't specify "hot" in her OP.
The OP might need to be more specific to get the kind of suggestions she has in mind.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I've no idea about weather in January but these places seem exotic to me:
Cuba
Japan
South America
Middle East
to me, exotic doesn't mean beach but that seems to be what most people interpret it as?:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Exotic means unusual and different, foreign but exciting. It is a positive word, and usually connotates beauty and wonder as much as strangeness.
To me that would be most likely somewhere cold with the most awesome scenery and wildlife.
Holidays/Honeymoons are what you make of them, it's the company you are with and the location you are at that makes for great times and treasured memories.
You don't have to spend a fortune to have a brilliant time and it does not have to be a once in a lifetime holiday for it to be the best holiday/honeymoon you ever had.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
I would say Seychelles0

Mauritius is fantastic but choose your hotel carefully. The hotel with the best beach is the LUX (formally the Beau Rivage). We got married at this hotel and we've been back to Mauritius 4 times now but on two occasions we tried other hotels, still nice but the beaches just didn't compare.
Mauritius has lots to do; helmet diving; submarine; scuba; cycling etc. and a real bonus for us, but this is personal taste....the best curry ever accompanied with French champagne. As its a mix of French and Indian (plus a few other nationalities) you get the best of both worlds. The people are friendly and it is usually really safe.
Alternatively, have you thought of a cruise? There are some good offers out there but check out 'cruise critic' before you book to make sure you choose the best ship to suit your likes and dislikes.
Have a fab time wherever you choose :-)0
