Honeymoon ideas, please?

Hi everyone,

We are getting married in December, and we are struggling to think of a honeymoon destination for January.

We are looking to spend approx £2k each, for a fortnight.

We have already been to Hawaii, Dubai, Bangkok, Koh Samui, the Maldives, and Egypt so need somewhere luxurious that we haven't been to before.

We want to go somewhere that will be special, that we aren't likely to visit again. So places like New York are out, they aren't special enough.

We did consider Bali but a friend who honeymooned there put us off a little.

Does anyone have any great ideas, please?

Thank you!

    Venice!

We went for the first part of our honeymoon and I wished we'd spent longer than four days there, there is so much to do and it is beautiful.

Get a gorgeous hotel with a sea view and enjoy!

I could easily spend two weeks there but you could always do one week there and one week somewhere else (we went to Rome after Venice but spent 10 days there which was too long IMO).

  • Thanks SkintChick, it's not really far enough to be exotic, and it won't be hot in January... sorry I should have mentioned that !

We are also looking for somewhere that is special, that we won't ever go to again. Venice is too close for that; we could pop over any time with Easy Jet or the like.

For a honeymoon it needs to be special, not just another holiday.

    Exotic maybe not?

Puerto Rico in the Caribbean in January, the weather is (around 73° F average) and you won’t get much rain, also it’s whale watching season, so you might get a chance of spotting the humpback whales.

Belize in Central America bordering the southeast of Mexico and Guatemala, weather in Belize (around 81° F) Northern Belize sees the least amount of rainfall.

Rio de Janeiro The weather (around 84° F).

Zanzibar, The Gambia, Puket, Vietnam, New Zealand.
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.

    Thanks for dissing my honeymoon!

Venice wasn't "just another holiday" to me, it was very special, and exotic in the sense that there is nowhere like it anywhere else on earth.

Maybe you should ask a travel agent?

  • skintchick, she didn't diss it, she just said it wasn't hot enough for her.

January is the best month for exotic holidays in my opinion. We went to the Maldives in Jan and loved it.

How about Mauritius? St Lucia? Barbados? Jamaica? Mexico, Cape Verde Islands?

Where did you go in Hawaii?

    What about Australia?

I would avoid Bali its where Aussie chavs go.

Vietnam is a lovely country I'm dying to go back there again.
  • I agree about Venice, we went there for our honeymoon and it's my favourite place in the whole world, but it might not be at its best in Jan.
How about Florida Keys? Magical and will be lovely at that time of year.

What about Cuba? exotic, far away, good weather at that time of year, and even if you were to go again, it will have changed radically. At the moment it's still like stepping back in time. Give it another 15 years and you'll have a starbucks on every other corner

St Kitts & Nevis is great.. We spent 1 week in Barbados, followed by a week on a cruise ship around the caribbean islands
