I really was on the way to the ironing board with resolve, conviction and fighting spirit - a woman on a mission, I was - then the phone went so I just sat down here while I was chatting and found some more posts!
DANNAHAZ - that recipe sounds delicious - I'll do it for tomorrow. All recipes grateful received, I can assure you! My BM says to put the liquids in first, then the dry ingredients then make a well in the flour and add the yeast. I had a bit of a fright yesterday because I did such a lot of baking that I got all my bags of flour out at the same time - my kitchen table was covered with bits and pieces. It didn't help that DH came home while I was organising what I intended to make and he didn't stop talking! I had practically every gadget operating as well! Anyway, it wasn't until I was clearing it all up that I thought 'which flour did I put in the BM?'!! I kept peeping through the looking-glass but couldn't tell what was going on in there so I just had to wait until it finished. It was your recipe for the smallest loaf and I really thought I had put ordinary SR in it! I felt really anxious while I waited. Anyway, when it was lifted out - well, proud or what?! It was beautiful! It tasted wonderful, too! I hope PATENTGIRL is reading these posts as well because she is feeling inspired, too! PATENT - look no further, DANNAHAZ has all the info, advice and recipes you'll ever need! Anyway, DANNA - thanks, again!
ARIL - your poor mum! I'm glad they have taken the screw out but I suppose she'll never live it down, will she?
CSARINA - no-one makes Creme Caramel like the French. If you get as far as the Cafe du Nord in Doue la Fontaine, Deux-Sevres (dept 79), Veronique there does the ultimate Mousse au Chocolat. Oh, I want some NOW!! It's incredible and she won't tell anyone how to make it!
TICKLEMOUSE - I think I must have missed some of the thread - I didn't realise you were going through such a stressful time selling your house. I do hope it works out for you. If there is one thing I really hate it's selling a house! Best of luck with it all!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

working from home on sunny days, dontcha just love it! I'm sat outside in my shorts, armed with my laptop & mobile, and it's glorious.
Sorted three bags of clutter last night - my nephew is doing a car boot sale at the weekend to raise money for his school rugby trip to South Africa, so he can have it all with pleasure!
PP - everyone else has said it, but just to reinforce, the daily thread is for you to talk about your day & what's important to you. If that's health, then so be it. Ignore them.
TM - ((hugs)) Hang in there
Shez - it's only work, a means of earning money. Its tough to not let it upset you, but it's really not worth it.
Right, work beckons. See you all later x0 -

Enjoy your holiday Csarina its a lovely time of year to be going to France with the nights getting longer too.

We are going to Guines in Nord de pas de Calais, its a part of France we have never visted before, just passed through on the way to somewhere else. We will be just 12 miles from Calais, so will be able to 'do' Cite Europe.....although I do prefer to buy my goodies from the local shops and markets. We hope to visit St Omer as well...........looking forward to the rest and some scrumpcious food...............
Still waiting for Parcel Force, should have been here before 3pm........oh well if there is no sign by 4pm I will be ringing their customer service..........
OH has just come in after cleaning the car inside and out, had to leave the windows, the sun is too strong and the cleaner is drying on the windscreen. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Hello everyone
((hugs)) Penny-Pincher and Ticklemouse, and anyone else needing one today. Can only echo what others have said about the PM to Penny-Pincher, I hope they never have to know what it's like to live with health problems
I haven't been finding much time to come on here recently, things seem to have been a real whirl, not that we've got much done. Kids are loving the weather, we've got their sandpit filled up now, and it's great to have something for them to do which is simple, free and healthy
DH got mad at me the other day as the freezer was in a right mess, stomped off to the garage and sorted it all out for me :T :T It's fab opening the lid and seeing everything in the right places and neatly packed. If only I could earn what he does, we could swap places as he'd make a fantastic housewife!
House is running me at the moment rather than vice versa. In fact, I shouldn't be on here right now, I should be dusting and hoovering. And there you have the reason I've not been around much recently!
Hope everyone is having a great day - we are off to the beach later :jThat man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest. Henry David Thoreau0 -
Csarina We have stayed at La Bien Assie (sp) camp site there several times, and it looks lovely but we have only been passing through too. Cap Griz-Nez and Cap Blanc-Nez headlands closest to the Uk are nearby too, and Ardres which also looks a lovely small town. If you go down to Bleriot Plage (on the road at the side of Auchan) you can go right down the coast, to Cap Blanc-Nez. On a clear day the views are good. Once we are retired, we hopefully will have time to stay and look round more.Member #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -

How lovely, I do like it around there. Boulogne Market is fab, just how a market should be! My one recommendation to visit is Wimereux, we had the most fabulous lunch there overlooking the sea a few years ago.0 -

Shez hope things ease up a bit at work for you i know what its like to be unhappy about it as one place i worked at i loved it and enjoyed being there but then left and cant find the same anywhere else could kick myself
hads a call from the garage the cars fuel line had broken and a few other little jobs needed doing £66 in total so not too bad and i fell in love with a grande picasso in the most lovely dark red which i must have but walked away as i didnt need so you lot have definatly been been drumming in the OS message
hugs to all who need them0 -
Well after phoning and playing merry h*** the parcel has just been collected.
We intend to 'do' the market at Boulogne, we have been to Wimereux before, we had been to Leclerc at Boulogne on a day trip, we took the coast road back to Calais and sat and had french bread, brie and tomato's washed down with orange juice...............on the prom, no one else about, just us the seagulls and the sea.......
I love France, we wanted to live there but 3 tries all fell through, I would go in a trice even now...........perhaps I could start a french OS....what do you think????? We both feel so comfortable when we are there and hate coming back. It was a dream when we had our caravan to take off for most of the year.......had we known what was going to happen re SS we might well have been able to do it..........but it was not to be, we had to sell the van 2 years ago, could not afford to keep it. My health broke down and I had to give up the two little jobs I had.
I have the recipe for the tea bread.
Soak 8 ozs mixed fruit in 6 fl ozs cold tea and 2 tablespoons of honey. I leave it overnight.
Next morning grease and bottom line a 1lb loaf tin.
Drain the fruit through a sieve and retain the liquor.
8ozs SR flour in a bowl.
1/2 teasp of cinnamon
1 teasp mixed spice.
Put the drained fruit into the flour, add a beaten egg and stir well until its all combined. If needed add some of the saved liquor, it needs to drop easily from a spoon.
Pour into the tin and bake for about an hour at 180c.
Take out of the oven and leave in the tin for 10 minutes then turn it out. Allow to cool, then wrap in foil and keep for 24 hours before cutting and spreading with butter..............
If you do not have honey put 2 ozs of castor sugar in with the flour. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0
