Can I just say, not that I am a prolific poster, but what a complete c*ck up, have rebooted my computer because I couldn't post, had been trying for over half hour and kept being told to use date option although I had.
Stumbled across this and can now see why so have managed to post, but surely a bit of fore warning, and a cross over period as people got used to a new system would have been a better option?
I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

And just for the record for some reason when I try to use the new super duper end date system it doesn't work on my computer. Rant over

think it was just ignored as it made no sense lol! i don't think the people implementing these changes have actually used the competitions board! Annoyingly we can't ignore this as they are forcing the change on us by stopping you using the end date in the title :(

when you say they're stopping us using the end date in the title, can we not just keep on putting it in, surely they've not got the time to amend all the posts each day

This would of course work if ALL the "unknown" were changed to the date in the title, sound familiar Glad, Diva and Dal? fancy a little job? :rotfl::rotfl:

(of course you would need to be able to EDIT the date field to do that though) Doh!
That ain't working! That's the way to do it, money for nothing and TV's for free ;)

Well, I know this of no use & has no input whatsoever, but I hate it. It's a struggle that I just can't be doing with so, I'm giving up. What a mess.

    Hi everyone

Now we have the new sort by end date function on Competitions Time we need you to use the tool to let others know the end-date, rather than in the title, so we can get it working properly and help you all find the competitions you're looking for.

To help we'll be removing the ability to put the end date in titles this afternoon.

We're aware it is a big change to what you're used to but we really do feel this, combined with the end-date function, will help you in your comping.

I wouldn't mind the forced end date thing if they'd also left the ability to post as we have done for years - it's the fact that they have actually gone to the effort to stop us from putting the end date in the title that's made me  Bet they don't even use the competitions board!

Seems to be okay now, thanks

It's going to make comping so much more time consuming, if not impossible for the way that I normally work. I log in, sort by last posted and bookmark any comps I fancy into month folders. Then I click 'sort by name' and they're in date order. That won't work now because the date isn't in the title.

So you carry on as always but in the last step you just sort by end date (the new sort function) instead of by title, surely? Sorry if I'm missing something here, but it doesn't sound all that traumatic :o

Ok it's problematic at the moment because it filters out the "unknown"s, but that's because so many of us have been ignoring the new "end date" box & putting unknown instead. That will sort itself out gradually over the next few months.

    What an ideal compromise! :T

(If it works technically, afraid I don't have a clue about such things :o ). Please please forum people, this would address the biggest *actual* problem raised so far.

I've been comping here since 2005. I admire ALL who post the comps for their hard work, determination and selfless posts!

I've sat back and got use to many changes over the years (even if i hated them).

I feel those who do a great job in hunting down and sharing the competitions should all stop posting them so in time the comp section will dwindle equating to less MSE users and we all boycott the threads until the powers that be listen to these posters who rake in thousands of users to this site on a daily basis!

That way I can use the other comp sites and get back to winning lots more <huge grin>

I do hope MSE Towers listen to all of us disgruntled long-time compers, most of which are the glue holding the threads together, giving up their time for free! Without them there would be NO compers section!
