Competitions Time End Dates

The board is in a bit of a mess. End date compers (there's A LOT of us) are penalised. The people who are posting 1000's of competitions are penalised. I don't understand how this is fair.

OK, if you have to have this system, that's your prerogative - but why take away the end date in the title? This works very, very well and is going to affect all of us!

All the unknown comps are going to get lost.

Normally I embrace a bit of change - when it benefits. I was one of the few that liked that new forum layout when it happened - but this is just awful & to not listen to, what seem like, 90% of the people that USE this board is ridiculous!

I don't want to seem rude, but how can anyone possibly know what benefits us apart from those who comp & post comps?

If this is to work then it needs a lot of tweaking, it's such a mess at the moment & my head is actually hurting from the tiny end dates. One-Eye has given a lot of valuable ideas, I just hope that he, and others, get listened to, quickly.

I am another one with poor eyesight and I can hardly make out the end date at all now, when the date is posted in the title it really stands out and made things so easy.

I can't post a comp even with the end date selected, when I try and post it tells me to select the end date with the new option tool

This is so confusing, I click the end date button and I'm seeing 106 pages with the first comp with a date of 30-01-2103? and then a lot ending 31-12-2013, then I click it again (to sort it the other way?!) and I'm getting 307 pages including the stickies and all of the Unknown end date posts!

What's going on?

Edit: And then when I go onto a different page I go back to the 106 pages again even when I go back to page 1 there's still 106 pages? Page 1 is then ending todays comps.

Edit: Any chance we can have a box at the bottom of the forum like with the current board sort tools to show only a certain end date? That would help a lot once everything is working with the new end date, I think.

I have also been over looking competitions without E: in the title due to many years of them being removed! so assume they will be taken off but then notice they have a tiny date underneath so guessing the board is just going to be full of Win titles. I never thought I would miss the letter E so much lol

Can't specify an end date for a lot of FB & Twitter as it depends on the number of likes/followers. These won't show up if people search by end date will they? :S

Which will change:-



1) The Date field becomes mandatory with an optional “estimated” tickbox
2) If you tick the box the comp is displayed as the lower picture.

Benefits:-
a) All comps will show in the forum when sorted by end date – there will be no “unknowns”
b) As all comps have an end date the problems with moving “unknowns” to Game Over will disappear.

Possible Benefits:-
c) Maybe the forum can be sorted by end date for “estimated” comps only.

I don't mean to be rude, really, I don't - it's nice that MSE try and upgrade things occasionally, but it always seems like they change things they *think* we want, but the majority don't. Or they change things for the worse without any consultation ... actually, they have asked for our thoughts a few times over the past few months yet there's rarely any comeback or any indication the powers that be are reading the feedback.

[STRIKE]The most infuriating thing about this new change is you can't see the end date without opening the post[/STRIKE]. And even then I'm struggling to see it as it's really small - I'm mildly dyslexic and I don't find numbers easy to read at the best of times ....

End date has re-appeared back under the title of the thread without opening it. I still think it's too small though. I used to be able to glance at it and understand what I was reading, now I find I'm squinting to read it, and reading it twice ...

Could someone explain, why if I do it by end date there is only 106 posts, but if I do it by thread theres 300+, where do the others go when I do it by end date? x
