    Hi everyone
To help we'll be removing the ability to put the end date in titles this afternoon.

How can it be considered "help" to remove something that the vast majority* of people who post comps want kept? With "help" like that I would hate to see what your hindrance is like.

It is also not just about end date searches, if you have saved posts in favourites to enter later without the end-date in the title there is no way of knowing the date without opening every post (unless you amend every title as you save them).

I just don't see why we at least can't still have the dates in the title. Does that interfere with how the end date tool would work?

My guess is people were not using their new shiny toy (sorry tool) so they have resorted to forcing it on them by preventing the old style titles, a touch of the "it's my ball syndrome" or "we gave you the illusion of choice, you chose the wrong one so the illusion has to be removed"

Could not agree more mjm ;),

A lot of people posted before in various threads about the fact that the new system was not liked and MSE just appeared to ignore the coments. Even when they asked for feedback,

This is doing my head in now, literally! :(

There's still some comps posted today with 'Unknown' as the end date but as we're now not able to put even a guessed one in the title, how, apart from going through ALL of the pages of posted that day and scanning the end dates are we supposed to find these and see when they end? As the unknown ones DON'T show up on the end date sort!

And to top it off it's always made me seriously dizzy trying to scroll through and look at the end dates and now it's even smaller and while unknown ones are allowed it's a nightmare to find them and will only get worse the more days this goes on for as at the moment you can still sort them into title order and they're all at the end (or beginning) of the E: ??/?? ones, eventually you won't be able to do this as less and less of them will have E: ??/?? in the title! :(

Edit: What makes it worse is that NO-ONE from MSE has been back on to comment on all of the problems we've been having since this change happened - how do we know anyone is actually reading this at all??

I posted this in the sticky re end dates not realising there was a separate thread so I'm reposting it again to give my tuppence worth.

Just come into forum and  its all different AGAIN!

Now I don't mind adapting to change if it makes things easier (e.g. I love the red skip button) but have to say I hate this new system. I am especially finding it very difficult to read the end by date as I am blind as a bat and it annoys me having to enlarge the page.

Having read previous comments I would repeat the adage

If it ain't broke, don't fix it

    Hi Bob,

This particular problem is new today and is to do with the routine to block E: DD/MM posts. The original problem only happened with very old posts (over 2 months old) - see my thread on Site Feedback HERE where we explored this.

Try editing the title of one of your recent posts eg. THIS ONE (6 days old) leaving the E: DD/MM in and you will see the problem.

    Thanks for clarifying that One-Eye.
I think I have found another Technical problem as regards the editability of the End Date. I have just been going back over some of my posts to enter End Dates that had previously been set as unknown.
This seemed to work OK only when there had been no reply posts. If there had been any replies posted, although the date seemed to be accepted, it wasn't transferring to the latest post and wasn't showing in the title box which still showed "unknown".

Threads with less than 1 page worth of replies replies seem OK for me. If I went over onto second or subsequent pages then I get the same problem - the "new" end date is not shown anywhere but "unknown" appears instead. This is a definite problem that needs fixing - but probably a minor one compared to some of the others :o
