Competitions Time End Dates

If it is going to stay like this with the vast majority hating it, are there any techy compers that could set up a new forum somewhere? Would everyone move over? Is it even possible?

i think the 'win' at the start is unnecessary, but with 'Ends' and then the date it would be much more clearer so it would be like

I had found a way of getting around the system this afternoon, then they blocked it, so I tried to come up with another method, and I didn't have much time to think, as I was due to log off.

I will be using the:

E: 07/03 method

until they block that as well.

As far as I'm concerned, MSE is relying on the fact that the regular posters feel a commitment to this site, so they will continue to post despite the fact that they are no longer enjoying it.

It's blatant exploitation.

Moreover, the new system means that it takes longer to post = fewer competitions posted = MSE loses out!!!

I'm guessing this has already been mentioned.... but the other area where the new end date 'display' (or lack of it in this case) is going to cause problems is if you 'subscribe' to a thread. The date is not displayed in the title.....

Now when I go to my subscriptions - if there is no end date in the title I have no idea of the end date of that comp without visiting individual threads.

I often subscribe to comps when they're not working correctly.....when they're not due to open for a few days.... when everyone is still working to find the answer.... when they're dailies.... when it was advents I had over 200 subscriptions to advent comps.

I think MSE has been far too hasty in blocking users from adding to the title. Furthermore, us compers are an ingenious lot and as is already the case, we'll find work arounds! Surely this in itself must demonstrate that we are not accepting the change!

I would like to add that I can fully see the potential benefits of the new end date function....but I can't see why the ability to add the end date to the title has been withdrawn (other than a ham fisted way to force users to utilise the new function).

Well, I've seen that the end date function is still available on other boards and this makes me LIVID. I feel really let down by MSE. I am also extremely concerned that they haven't even come on here or made another announcement despite us all being so unhappy. I am so glad the lovely LAKS has found a way to keep the end date in the title. Come on, MSE, how about motivating yourselves to actually give us some blinking feedback instead of leaving us in the dark like this? I am sure I can speak on behalf of many when I say that you are destroying loyalty and goodwill here. I am sure that many of the new compers ie Loquats that you are hoping to attract won't even stay with the site beyond a few months, so surely you need us oldies?? (or maybe not ;( )

A big company makes a change that affects lots of people (many of whom actually supply the majority of the content that the affected service depends on) without proper consultation or explaining why. The company then refuses to respond to requests for a compromise or clarification.

Surely the thing to do is to raise the issue on the forum of a website with a long and proud reputation for standing up to big corporations for ordinary people who are being mistreated.

Oh hang on, I've just seen a problem with that....

as Martin Lewis has sold MSE to Moneysupermarket.com and will soon have little or no control over how the site is run I am sure there will be other major changes in the pipeline

I hate it! I rarely complain but i dont see why when it was so easy to sort the old way and we all like the E: in the title, it has to be changed. How exctly does that benefit us? Just for example, last night knowing there was 70+ end month pages....i used the new tool and it showed 38 pages...so where did the rest go? .... how many more will we be missing

I can make a new one (forum), the only thing is it would take around a week & I'm not willing to spend that much time on something that I could potentially be running on my own & even maybe using on my own :rotfl:
