Maybe we should all defect to a new competition forum?

I am seriously considering doing so

I have found this one here
http://www.futurewinner.co.uk/forumv2/ and as it is run by a comper it is very well organized (unlike mse)

    another comping forum here
    http://www.stranraeranddistrict.co.uk/phpbb3/index.php

if anyone knows of any other comp forums please could you post the links

    Best of Luck :)

Well, at least we now have a reply of sorts from Andrea. It may be me just being extremely cynical but how odd that a reply only came up when someone kindly started posting links to alternative comping sites and we were talking about leaving?

Thanks for your posts, chick, let's hope it's NOT necessary but I for one would not hesitate to move if this doesn't get sorted, I just can't comp how I wish to without end date in the title, end of story.

Could you check this is still happening for the post you saw it on please?

    Thanks

TECHNICAL PROBLEM - Editing old post titles

If you try and edit a title of a post from before the "blocking" of E: DD/MM started you hit this problem. If the title is left with E: DD/MM in, then any change you make affects the post title but leaves the thread title (forumdisplay) unchanged.

    example:

Original Title: E: 28/02 Win a holiday to France

Edited to E: 28/02 Win a holiday to Germany

In the forum list and in searches it will show France but when you open the thread it will show Germany

(I just want to make clear this is different to the problem with posts over two months old which has always happened. This problem affects threads posted as recently as yesterday)

  • Hi softpad

I've just spent the last half hour reading the thread and posts people had linked to, collating the points you've all made so we can talk about them and see what we can do, so I promise, that's a coincidence :)

I just think it does not 'view' well. Sometimes 1 day competitions are added and so you need to keep checking the list and it is so difficult to see the dates, previously they jumped out at you now you need to spend more time looking.
    Thank you all who post.

If a high street company introduced something that didn't work. It would be backed off immediately. Why can't this? It's just a software change.

I promise we really don't do things to deliberately annoy our forum users and it's a shame some of you feel we do, or don't consult you after we asked on the Comps discussion board. We make changes if forum users have asked for them or said they're a good idea when we've asked.
    Andrea :)

I propose that before any new major changes are implemented on the comps board that they be tried and tested my senior comp forum group members so as to try and iron out any major problems before they go live

and then and (only then) the new changes should be voted upon by all comp forum members - and if the majority want the new changes they should stay and if not they should be dumped!

if anyone else agrees all say AYE!

    Very sensible plan Amilucky? :T
  • Just to add another voice to this: I rely on having the end date in the subject line. If this is going to be removed, could you at least look into including the new end date field in the daily notification email we get when we subscribe to the forum?
