That's the crux of it Laks, if there is a valid reason why we can't have it then they should explain that and have done with it.

I have presented a reasoned argument with illustration as to why we still need it but there has been no feedback what-so-ever as to why they don't want it.

Just used the search function for dupe purposes (was posting a comp). I had to click on 2 separate threads just to see a) when it was posted (as people had replied on the threads) and b) when it ends/ended. That is only after 1 day of this new title method being implicated.

It's going to be horrendous once ALL comps are like that. Posting is going to take forever!

Can we not also have the end date in the title of the competition? I noticed this is not on many competitions today but when you search for competitions the end date does not appear like it does on the listed pages by date.

could the new date function not be altered so that instead of the date being automatically put into a new field it is automatically added to the start of the title

this would help new compers and would also mean that nothing would drastically change with the old end date format and everything would be hunky dory again!

would also be great if with one click (via a drop down menu) we could automatically add tags to the titles like FB, Twitter, Blog, Daily, Weekly, Monthly etc

Incredibly easy to concatenate to the start of a string of characters.

and since the techies have already proved they can take the original end dates out of the titles, there is no reason they cannot add the new end dates IN !

...except I suppose it might make some too long.

PS I'm filling out the itv comps while I can still see the dates

I personally never comp by end date (i remember when i last entered a comp eg 7am, and find that post and work back to the first page from there, works for me) and i am a comper/poster that i remember the time BEFORE E: XX/XX was introduced.
I still remember the day Diva posted to say she had spent hours amending every post to include the E: XX/XX and how quickly posters were able to adapt their posting methods (thank you Diva, that was a lot of work!)

So, like i said, to me, i dont mind if the E: XX/XX is there or not, it does not impact the way i comp, i keep my own list of daily comps and as i open these everyday, its not difficult or time consuming to see if it has ended or not. I also think people will soon get used to how the board looks, just as we did all those years ago when it was changed, people will soon get used to the new end date comping system.

However, the fact that so many people are unhappy with the changes goes to show how MSE feels about this board and its members. By reading through it, you cannot miss the fact that not only are there many faults with this system, more people are unhappy with it than not (im happy either way).

I am not happy there is an unknown option, this completely ruins the new 'end date comping' system that MSE have set up, why set up a system then add something that immediately makes a joke out of it?

I dont like the way the end date is so small, its not easy to see at first glance - if you are getting rid of the end date in the title, surely you should replace it with something that can be seen in its place?

MSE really need to sort out the fact there is no longer an end date showing when you use the search facility - im sure there are many members who comp by end date who are benefiting from the new system, however there are many more who are now having problems because when they do a search, they have no idea of what date the competitions are for - do you really want more dupes posting because people dont have the time/inclination to click through to the post to check the end date - i know i dont have the time.

Im sure there are many more problems, the 3 above are the ones ive come across but i think the main problem is still the fact PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE THIS. As i said, for me, it doesnt matter, but there are far too many people out there (including long standing posters) who are not happy.
Im sure this board brings in a lot of revenue to MSE, with all the links that are posted - do they really want rid of it this bad?

now i have added the end date to the additional field so what is the option tool??

It is very important to remember that we would not have a MSE (comping) community if it were not for the good people that post these comps.

There are people for and against - but we need to support the kind souls who go out of their way to share comps.....

I keep hearing that it is now more difficult to ensure that comps are not dupes and that it is physically taking longer to post the comps - this will cause people to not post at all.

This just seems wrong - it is very sad
