Agree with almost everything written by G&D, although i don't agree about the IX35 and Mumsy.
I was quoting my wife.
When we were doing the rounds of the various dealers, we visited a dealer that sold both Kia and Hyundai. I asked the salesman if there was a conflict of interest and he said no because the Sportage and IX35 appealed to different demographics.
I was interested in the Yeti too but Mrs G said "NO!". Her sister has just bought one though.
Edit: The Sportage was delivered in just over two weeks from date of order.0 -

The 1.6 diesel is new by Honda and was recently introduced to the Civic range and will soon be appearing in the CRV range. Stats:

Wonder what demographic i am since i like them both.
Partially "mumsy" :eek:0 -

Age wise i sit right in the middle, so i guess it makes sense that i'd like bits about both.
A lot of the yeti drivers I've seen are a lot older than i am, which is a bit of a concern with regards to my street cred..0 -
I had personally never thought of SUV's as having demographics. That is probably because until a few years ago there were only a few of them around and you bought one if you needed one.
I guess now there are so many that the next step is for them to split out and start branding themselves like cars do to the general population as opposed to SUV owners. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

The salesman said that he sold more Sportages to the younger end of the market and more IX35s to the older end.
Obviously, there are always the exceptions that prove the rule.
+1 that's how I understood the differences in marketing etc0 -
Well, I think this is all going to come down to who can offer the best part ex and who can come up with the best delivery times if I go for new, I looked at a Mokka today and was offered the showroom car, however, on having a better look I'm not sure, the interior though well equipped, is a bit claustrophobic, I'm going to have a look at Kia in Reading on Sunday but I have to say, I'm leaning back towards the nearly new Qashqai option, plenty to choose from at Oxford motor park.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

This isn't always (in fact, it rarely is...) the best way to do it.
Your current car is worth a more or less fixed amount of money (all dealers use the same guides), often the best p/x price is made up with 'wooden dollars' because the car you are looking at has more profit margin, or it is one they are trying to get rid of/not selling too well/due for replacement.
Be careful. And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -

Cheers, I'll rephrase that to 'who can offer the best deal' I would prefer a trade in as it saves me being stuck temporarily with 2 cars, plus, my car is due a service, MOT and tax beginning of March.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0
